SenorGato
THIS is something I don't see talked enough. The HC/QB relationship in this sport is the most critical in this sport. I'm not gonna go all "THIS IS THE KEY TO WINNING," but lets face it...all the truly great teams and winners had this relationship going for them....the ones that did it more than once specifically...the ones that lasted. I posted it in another thread but look at the history of great coaches and check out who they did their winning with: Elway/Shanahan Walsh/Montana...some Young, which is just trippy to find two winning QBs...I guess that's why Wyche ended up with Young. Noll/Bradshaw Belichick/Brady Lombardi/Starr Landry/Staubach Brown/Graham Cowher/Rapegirlsberger Reid/McNabb - Though they never won the SB...man that sucks for both of them. Levy/Kelly Dungy/Manning Ewbank/Namath I'm under the impression that they're not on the same wavelength yet...Not sure Rex trusts Sanchez fully or even 75% yet...But I do see some similarities in their personalities that create the hope for a potential match...seems to me that this is just them still n00bing it at their positions. What do you guys think of our budding combo and their potential together? When do you think the magic moment happens? Is there a magic moment or does it take time that surely we don't have? Sperm Edwards
I notice you threw Dungy/Manning in there as though Dungy had anything to do with Manning's success.

Bradshaw and Noll hated each other - Noll always bought into the idea that Bradshaw wasn't smart enough to play in the NFL. Walsh spent a decade looking to replace Montana because he never wanted him in the first place and always believed Phil Simms was the perfect QB for his system - why do you think they went and traded for Young after Montana had already won two Super Bowls? Not all of these relationships were made in heaven.
JiF
They are both still very new to their respective positions. Give it time. None of those relationships happened over night. Both guys seem very confident and comfortable with one another. I'm not worried about either our HC or our QB. Both are capable of winning a SB. hoping4ASuperBowl
I notice you threw Dungy/Manning in there as though Dungy had anything to do with Manning's success. Dungy obviously is THE reason Indy was so successful. /end sarcasm
Sperm Edwards
Also Cowher/Roethlisberger? They were together less than Tomlin/Roethlisberger. What happened to Cowher/O'Donnell, Cowher/Tomczak, Cowher/Stewart, and Cowher/Maddox? Or do they not count? It's a silly list if you're only going to just list HC/QB in hindsight. Otherwise every non-SB-winning combination is a failure, including ones that will be in the future. See Klecko's comments about Walsh/Montana (which I'll be honest I didn't know about regarding Walsh preferring non-Montana until he was getting older) & Noll/Bradshaw, not to mention Dungy/Manning. Parcells/Simms, Shula/Marino (aw hell, that dirtbag Shula and like 5 different QB's), and Levy/Kelly belong there more than some of these. By the way, I remember seeing Walsh gushing over Trent Edwards when Buffalo took him, complete with Montana intangibles comparisons. lol
