Jets Inactives Today

Something else in the Jets’ favor today in their major climb is the state of the Steelers’ health. Their inactive list has just been distributed here in the pressbox and as rumored for a few days, S Troy Polamalu and TE Heath Miller have both been deactivated. The loss of each is a small blow to a Pittsburgh side that is not only trying to extend its hex over the visitor from the East but also is trying to keep ahead of another Eastern Seaboard team, the Ravens, in the battle for the AFC North title and a possible wild-card bye week.

Lastly is the Jets’ own sense of well-being. They were feeling good about themselves and their postseason chances until suffering difficult division setbacks at New England and home against Miami. But they have talent and today we will see if they have what it takes to get up, dust themselves off, end their multiple schneids and get back into the thick of the postseason conversation.

Inactives

The Jets’ inactive list today: S Eric Smith, LB Jamaal Westerman, T Damien Woody, TE Jeff Cumberland and D-linemen Jarron Gilbert, Trevor Pryce and Matt Kroul. Kellen Clemens again is the third QB.

Besides Polamalu and Miller, the Steelers’ inactives include CB Keenan Lewis, RB Jonathan Dwyer, T Chris Scott, DT Steve McLendon and DE Aaron Smith, with Charlie Batch designated as the third QB behind Ben Roethlisberger and Byron Leftwich.

Ryan Mundy gets the start at SS for Polamalu, Matt Spaeth at TE for Miller
