Our biggest impact player from the draft class is an oft-used fullback.

Mistah T was too busy stroking himself over the Holmes coupe.

Too bad Santonio will be catching balls from Peyton next year.

yeah and mr. ryan was obviously too busy stroking himself over the conner pick since he is just now teaching our defense the base packages.

2 points about vernon

1) he's a lunchpail decent run stuffing player who plays a ton of specials. He's not Aaron Maybin who can't even get active. He's not demitrius underwood trying to kill himself. But he's not a superstar which is why everyone hates him... he's not worthless either. He is a player with some value.

2) jason can confirm this but I heard the Jets have a clause something like 9 mil bonus if he gets even 1 sack this year. if this is true, is it any wonder why he NEVER sees the field on passing downs? Jason Taylor, Trevor Pryce, Bryan Thomas, Calvin Pace and Shaun Ellis are all in front of him in that situation... even Marcus Dixon is getting reps there now. Maybe it's all because of talent and who legitimately is the better player but often times, follow the money...

Its not guaranteed money, it was just an added way for the agent to ensure that Gholston would not get caught in that weird in between area (4-6 sacks and looking like he has a pulse) where the Jets pay him 3 million or so next year when he could get a better deal as a free agent. He gave up some potential future guarantees in his renegotiation so the sack incentive was just insurance for the player for giving up those potential guarantees. He is going to earn that 9 million. He is over 20% of the snaps already and the Jets plan to play him more this week so sack or no sack he will earn that RB next year that will see him cut the first week of March.

He isnt in on passing downs because he cant rush the passer and is too stiff to play outside. Still Im surprised they have not tried him more at the nose or in place of Ellis on more downs with Pryce going inside. Ive always maintained that he is a good sumo wrestler type and can occupy blockers. Maybe that frees someone because the guys on the field now sure cant do it. But hes a bust of epic proportions and I doubt anyone is going to salvage him at this point.
