20-12, 2 wild cards

I know there have been a lot of criticisms of Rex this year but as a life long Jet fan 20-12 is pretty ******* good for 2 seasons, including a trip to the AFC Championship game. Yes, it's only 1 win more than Herm through 2 seasons, but Rex has proven he can win in the playoffs.

I have a pretty good feeling that the Jets win next week and get on another run like last year.

As much as people like to criticize Rex, I am happy he's the Jet HC, especially after the Mangini years. And to think, there were a lot of people on this board who wanted Mike Tice.

Solid start. Promising future. Never a dull moment. Based on Rex's infatuation with soft porn and his own first name, I wonder if Woody would consider another symbol for a "jet" logo.

I couldn't resist. But seriously...Can you imagine your team adopting a penis looking logo? Kind of like that Austin Powers movie. Consider the bright side...Nobody could complain how cocky your team is...It would be written on the helmet.

);p

Trash talking aside...Congrats on the win today.

Your team was lucky a few teams laid down at the end of last year in order to make the playoffs. Nate "jets post season hero" Kaeding chokes, again, and now Rex is playoff proven?

This year, with all the hype and expectations, your team did not play as well as they dud last year. Especially, on defense.

Ryan has shown more competence than Mangini, but he is barely ahead of Herm's pace.

20-12, 2 playoff appearances, and 1 trip (so far) to the AFC Championship game.

2-2 vs. New England

Maybe you haven't followed this team over the past 40 years but this is a great start for a 1st time HC.

With a rookie QB from day one mind you, who for the most part has sucked a$$. Love him or hate him, this is a results-oriented business and his first two years as a coach are second only to Parcells in the history of the franchise. At the end of the day, coaches get judged first and foremost on W's and he's got 'em. Rex FTW.

He's fat and I hear he likes feet as much as he likes bacon.

Fire him.

You know it's funny, but one of the most impressive things is how he takes so much abuse from the public and media and still keeps the team focused. All the Hard Knocks hoopla, Braylon, Inez, a dunce running the offense, the constant scrutiny...the NY media published pictures of his friggin wife with another man. His WIFE. And yet the team went out there and pulled out 11 wins in the AFC, split the series with NE, won 2 of his last 3 (including a win at Pittsburgh), all when plenty of coaches would have absolutely collapsed, especially after that raping in Foxboro.

There's a great saying in the fight game that there's nothing worse than a guy who talks a lot of trash and backs it up. Makes you hate them even more. Rex is just that dude.

Its the playoff record that is going to make or break him. 20-12 is 1 game better than Herm. Rex had the slightly worse situation with the rookie QB coming in, but both did take over 9-7 teams. Im going to be disappointed with the team if they bow right out of the playoffs this week.

Yeah, if he'd only cheat like your coach does he'd be elite.

Perhaps he should start cheating then so he can keep up with NE.

Me too, but expectations for this season were probably too high from the beginning. The defense is slow and unathletic and the QB is inexperienced and possibly terrible.

Id agree that expectations were too high, but a loss in the wildcard round should be unacceptable. The thing that upsets me the most about the year is that the team isnt really any better than last year. I can buy the defense playing worse---it happens all the time and as you said the talent level itself is not high---but the same issues from last year are there this year. 10 men on the field. 12 men on the field. No shows on offense. No participation from the head coach on offense until things hit rock bottom. Poor play off the long layoffs. Terrible penalties. Those are kind of the areas that you want to see improve and they did not at all. It was the same stuff with Herm from 2001--->2002. Inflexible offense. Poor defensive technique. Horrendous game and clock management. Getting to round 2 that year and knowing that the Jets were the second best team at the end of the year in the AFC made it at least enjoyable, but you knew your head coach showed zero growth from year 1 to year 2.

Dont get me wrong. I like Rex. I couldnt stand Herm and thought Mangini was wildly overrated, but Rex didnt really do anything special yet this season. I think last year they won because of the coach. This year they just happened to win some games. I dont think hes really been an overall positive or negative. If the offense takes off these next few weeks I think then he becomes a positive because its been his influence that changed the way the coordinator is calling the games. But we will have to wait and see how things go next week.

Yeah, so bad they wound up squeezing out 11 wins with Sanchise pulling a few out of his a$$. God how I long for the days of the noodle and Mr. BBQ!

I'll tell you what's funny. I'd forgotten all about the Inez locker room stuff. Seems like it happened 5 years ago.
