wow! Thats like stabbing me in the heart Max.. Now how are we supposed to be roomys in Indy?..I was all set for the trip but WOW! That hurt!

I guess we could take this before the JetNation board of directors. We have historically been a guys only club. The one time we let a girl in (Tom Shane) all hell broke loose.

:D

They lost a lot of the fans when they added more keyboards and went more Prog rock.. Those who stood by them saw that they constantly changed their style thru the years..They strayed from formats like caress of steel.. Hemispheres..2112...so thats what killed off some fans

They are still so popular because they are like a huge underground cult band..

There are scores of still die-hard superfans (I myself being one) even after all this time.. They are currently touring and selling out venues.. This tour was all about the whole Moving Pictures Album in its entirety.. This was a major event because they even played Camera Eye and that never gets chosen on the set list...They finished the first leg of that tour up over the summer and are set to come back for the 2nd leg.. They play NY at MSG April 10th.. I'll be there of course!...

I havent missed a tour since Signals 1982 and I have no intentions of ever missing one.. I'll be a rush fan til I die.. Just how it is.. I'm not the only fanatic that feels this way.. there is a Rushtour Forum with hundreds of members as dedicated as I am. We travel to different states and even countries and have huge meet-ups. Another one is set for that NY show.. People will fly from all over for it.. Its pretty wild.. I've met some really great people from the Rush board and we get together outside of it on our own.. Long term friendships have been formed because of those 3 guys.. The trinity :)

anyway.. you get my drift.. I'm a Rush Chick Supreme! \m/ \m/

Had no idea you were a fan.

Weird coincidence that I started this thread this week.

Fairly good breakdown.

Camera Eye was a huge highlight of the tour for me. I was also stunned at how much I loved hearing Marathon live. Much better than on the album, although I hope they swap it out for Middletown Dreams on this leg - love that song.

Also loved Leave That Thing Alone, plus Caravan was just sick live. I can't wait to hear them play it again.

I'd be willing to bet that Klecko's size large shirt from the Signals Tour that hasn't fit in 10 years and was relegated to a receptacle that's crumpled up under the bed just got some action.

That's just awful, you should be banned for this. I'm going to have nightmares now. What kind of sick bastard even thinks of something like that?

Question to you die hards; at their shows, do they typically play older stuff, newer stuff or a combo.

Because honestly, everything after Moving Pictures...just isnt very good IMO.

They always play a mix of older and newer stuff.

On the last tour, in addition to playing all of Moving Pictures, they played Spirit of Radio, Working Man, Closer to the Heart, Freewill, 2112 (Overture and Temples,) and La Villa Strangiato as far as the pre-MP is concerned.

From the post-MP period they played Presto (huge highlight for me because it is one of my favorite Rush songs and they hadn't played it in close to 20 years,) Time Stand Still, Stick It Out, Leave That Thing Alone, Marathon, Subdivisions from the 80s-90s era and then Far Cry, Faithless and Working Them Angels from Snakes and Arrows - all killer songs, and then the two new songs (Caravan & BU2B) from the yet to be finished album Clockwork Angels.

They kind of cover all the bases.

I would assume the setlist for this leg will be mostly the same but I would like to see some changes (I've already mentioned subbing Middletown Dreams for Marathon but I would also like to hear Vapor Trail instead of Stick It Out and Countdown instead of Time Stand Still.)

There is an unofficial petition site where fans can vote what songs they would like to hear: http://www.rushpetition.com

The band has mentioned in interviews that they are aware of it and take it into account when developing a setlist.

well my Rush "counterpart" ( Klecko will get that reference) pretty much answered that question the way I would have...

I doubt that they will change the setlist more than maybe a song or 2.. maybe! The only issue I have with these guys regarding touring is that they do the same show over and over which sucks when you want to go multiple times.. We started flying to different cities to meet up with friends and all go to the shows to keep it fresh..I think I saw Snakes & Arrows tour 13 times all over the place..By the time they did my home show at Jones Beach I was totally burnt out on that album.. I didnt listen to it for over a year I was actually sick of it lol...

The prices as well have skyrocketed for them. They used to be reasonably priced but now its out of hand.. Really cutting back on the amount of shows I go to... especially since there will be an album release and another tour for that so I'd rather save up for seeing the new show a few times..

I am totally watching Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage on Cable right now.

saw that at the Tribeca Film Festival when it premiered.. Amazing documentary and NOT just cuz I'm a crazy Rush nut.. A lot of non rush people have seen it and were very impressed by it..

I own the dvd of course and the bonus features are hilarious.. They have a scen where Alex Ged & Neil are at dinner in some lodge and they have like 6 bottles of wine and get plastered.. Neil for those that dont know is straight laced and keeps to himself as opposed to Alex n Geds more open personality, well Neil gets plastered and giggles like a little girl.. so funny to watch them like that..

Alex is a riot anyway but Neil stole the show.. lol

There's so much that goes into their show technically that it's hard to switch up the setlist every night like the Dead did. They've never swapped out more than a song or two from what I can remember.

I do love that they have mined some rarely played songs for each tour since they started touring again in 2002. Love that I've gotten to hear Presto, Between the Wheels, Entre Nous, The Pass and others on recent tours than having to sit through Bravado for the 100th time.

I would love for them to bring back the encore medley ending with In the Mood. They haven't played that in forever.

It probably would've helped more if you said you would do something illicit with it, but I suppose this will have to do.

Rented the movie and thought it was terrible.

I can see that.. heres the thing.. you need to watch the episodes until you really get a sense of the characters.. The shows pretty funny and there are Rush references around..

You have to see the episode titles "Closer to the heart" they kidnap Alex from his hotel room numbered 2112.. Alex is priceless in that.. The whole episode focus's around them needing Rush tickets...

Ive seen it years ago when I didnt know the show as well as I do now and it was funny.. but NOW when I saw it agaion it was hilarious cuz unless you know the deal of the show you wouldnt have gotten the jokes in it..

rent them or hell buy them.. we just got the series on dvd from Amazon.. Its worth it...

met them at Jones Beach 2004.. I usually hate pix of myself and this is no exception. It was a monsoon outside and I had to literally run across the parking lot in the rain and get back stage before i was too late to meet them.. That was not happening.. but I would have rather been a lil more primped and primed for the big meet and photo op.

Thats ultra lame. I will never see a band twice on the same tour if the play the same set list over and over again. Pretty boring if you ask me. I've always heard how amazing Rush is live, this kind of knocks them down a little if you ask me. Great live bands dont do that.

If you saw them live you would understand why they can't switch up the setlist every night.

I think they could be a little more flexible... At least in the planning stages make an alternate couple of songs to change it up...

and I dont mean every night but hell they are coming back to the states with the MP tour and i bet you a rack of ribs that they dont change anything.. now thats bs!

I still have a great time with the repeater shows but I used to go traveling to see them.. I don't do that anymore for the most part though because of that.. I can save a ton of money on airfare and hotels and sh*t just by seeing them in NY and if i really needed more of a fix I could easily hop in the car and hit Jersey or CT...

With the new documentary out and their appearances on Colbert show and also they were big in that movie I Love You man" and now theirs a Rock band game based on the epic "2112" now their getting more popular...the fan base keeps growing.. the venues sell out and the tix prices keep going up..

I honestly liked it better when they were kept as our lil secret underground cult..

They are really awesome guys as well.. VERY down to earth!!!!

check out this appearance on Colbert.. reached more of the masses with this show.. I was getting calls from non rush fans asking if I saw them on the show...

Rush on Colbert!

oh dammit! they only have the intro available its really funny though.. .. I will see if I can get there appearance as well..

found it heres the guys... colbert part 2

I bet they will.

It will be like the second leg of the S&A tour in '08 when they swapped out Entre Nous for Ghost of a Chance and a couple others.
