Tamme is pretty much the same thing as Clark

He is and he isnt. In terms of skill set and ability. Maybe. But in terms of literally being in Peyton's head and knowing exactly what Peyton wants to do with the ball in certain situations...not at all.

Clark was Peyton's safety valve. Dont think Tamme's got that kind of trust yet.

I have to agree with that. Clark knew every single hot route to run in every situation. I still think Tamme will hurt us as we don't have someone who can guard him.

Wait who am I kidding. ERIC SMITH IS BACK.

The Jets pool of sh*tty secondary players over the years is pretty robust.

Tamme is maybe half the player Clark is. Peyton Manning really is just that damn good. He will probably carve us up again. I think Vick is the most dangerous QB this year but Manning has been the best QB of this generation hands down. I know the Pats trolls and the media will argue this, but it's much easier to stop Brady than it is Manning. Rex still hasn't figured out how to stop Manning.

I dont think its even close. Clark had tremendous hands and had become a killer route runner. He could stretch the field as well as any tight end in the league other than Gates. He knew every route Peyton wanted in every situation. Thats not Tamme. Hes still a catch and gather the ball player which is why many of his routes are pure safety routes going just 4 yards past the LOS. He does not have that connection with Manning at all. Manning expects left and Tamme goes right. I watched at least two games this year where Manning just tore into him when he screwed up. Still doesnt mean our guys will stop him since they cant stop anyone, but Clark is a far better player.

The kid is pretty good. Blair White sucks as Collie's understudy...but this Tamme kid is legit.

Do we have anyone that can defend him?

No, he isn't.

They both catch a ton of balls, yes.

But Tamme cannot break away like Dallas Clark can - he doesn't have "home run" threat ability, he is a great possession receiver at TE though.

Tamme is really young...Clark wasn't Clark until 3 years ago.

Caught 67 balls in 13 games. Obviously he isnt as talented, but the drop off hasnt been that big from Dallas.

I wouldnt exactly call Dallas Clark a home run type of player, either.

Have you ever watched him play?

Compared to Tamme and just about every other TE not named Vernon Davis or Antonio Gates, yeah, he is a "home run" hitter for a TE... Clark separates and gets down the field with the best of 'em.

What'd you think I was comparing him to Devin ******* Hester?

Home run hitter refers to being a home run hitter.

Relax, I was kidding. I know what you meant. Was just pointing out, Tamme provides virtually the same threat as Clark down the middle of the field.

No worries.

Watching Tamme play, the thing that is different about him and Clark is that Clark was much more likely to catch and run and NOT GET CAUGHT. While Tamme catches a ton of balls and even get a little bit of YAC, but the difference is that he is far less likely to take it to the house.

I think Clark is much more athletic. Tamme doesn't run away from people the way Clark does. He'll still eat us alive of course, but not as bad as Clark would.

I dissagree, its quite the opposite. Clark has better hands but is rather soft for a TE. Tamme is a better athlete with more speed, worse hands and better toughness. Clark may have trouble getting his job back.
