While the New York Jets are preparing for this week’s Wild Card matchup against the host Indianapolis Colts, that hasn’t stopped them from looking at adding players to their 2011 roster.

The Jets signed the following five players to future contracts: RB Chris Jennings; LB Joey LaRocque, DT Carlton Powell; LB Brian Toal; CB Ellis Lankster.

Those players won’t count against the Jets 2011 roster until after the Super Bowl.

Those five players plus DE Adrian Awasom; RB Carlos Brown; OT Kyle Burkhart; TE Chris Hopkins; OT T.J. Richmond; CB Terrell Skinner; QB Jevan Snead; TE Darrell Strong worked out for the Jets earlier this week.

As first reported previously, Snead also recently worked out for the Seattle Seahawks.

Awasom signed a future contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

Why? Is it because some dude on JI saw him in a gay bar? You aren't allowed to have more than one gay QB on a team so he can't sign with the Jets or the Pats? They had to know that before they worked him out.

Our scouting department really dropped the soap er...ball on this one.

I love you JR. Top 5 interwebz personalities of all time. Dont let these fools get you down.

Go Jets!!!

I'm a clown, fool. Get it right.

What is he coming in as? I remember him as an LB, but the Giants were trying him at FB this spring/summer. He was a backup(!) in the UFL.

I can't imagine him playing fullback in the NFL. He just ran 3rd and shorts for BC. I would think he will come in trying to play some linebacker... but realistically, special teams. I can't imagine him playing anywhere else... not Strong Safety.
