The Player the Pats Sorely Missed

There D was fine last night. One of our TD's was essentially garbage time set up by Cro's return after an onside...and the other was set up by a stupid fake punt. I think we only score 14pts if those two plays didnt occur.

Bottom line is our D out played their O, thats why we won. That might not have happened if Moss was there, his presence was sorely missed. It was obvious.

ha, i was about to type the same. They gift wrapped two scores for us.. If your the pats, you had to expect needing to score 24+ to win this game. This game was won with our defense.

Nothing makes me happier watching the Pats and seeing a frustrated confused Brady.

the fake punt at thier own 38 and 8 minute drive with 12 minutes to go should end that idea for good.. lol

That was about as bad a decision I've ever seen a coach make in a playoff game. Just incredibly dumb to try that with less than 90 seconds left in the half, trailing by only four when you are going to be getting the ball to start the second half.

Yup... especially against one of the best ST coaches in the league.. using a guy not used to handling the ball. To smart for his own good. That pretty much won the game for us, imo..

Actually from everything I'm hearing, Chung made that call at the line. Had he held onto the ball, it would have worked. Still made no sense.

That would explain why it looked like BB was saying "what were you thinking or doing"...cant tell exactly what he said...but you could see him on the sidelined confused by what Chung did.

Thought that was stupid too.

If Belichick really allows Patrick friggin' Chung to make that call he is an idiot for giving him that power.

Yes it was very stupid, but my point is maybe coaches give their players more freedom than you'd think.

Trailing by four with less than a minute and a half left in the half of a playoff game when you are getting the ball to start the second half?

Rex was too gracious to BB in his press conference, he coached circles around that cheating **** yesterday.

Of course the game would have been different if Moss was in there, but the Jets would not have developed the same defensive scheme if Moss was in there.

It is the same as saying this game may have been different if it were played on the moon.

It wasn't, he wasn't and to talk about probabilities of differences based on unknown variables is pretty useless.

Agreed...I'm just saying that wasnt a very BBish move.

Enjoy the win.

To talk about "dream sequences" and their effect is useless babble.

I'm enjoying the win immensely. I fapped to game highlights twice already. And everything typed on a message board is useless babble.

Thanks for posting in the thread but please dont get in the way of me messing with Patriots trolls.

This is a debate that will never end as Pats fans can see the forest for the trees where Welker is concerned - he is a short, slow, white kid who is not afraid to go over the middle - in other words: he is their ultimate wet dream of a player.

The fact that he really isn't remotely as good as they think he is or that there are about 50 guys in the league who could do his job at least as well as he does or better is immaterial to them.

However, the second he becomes a free agent and the Pats cut him loose rather than pay him a ridiculous sum for his past achievement, which they know he will never come close to repeating, and he signs with another team, they will turn on him with such vile viciousness it's going to be hysterical.

As big a fan of Randy Moss as I am, I don't buy that he would have made any difference in yesterday's game. The Jets built this D to handle those Moss-led Patriots...a random freak TD in a week 2 loss doesn't prove anything.

The Pats built their dynasty on Seymour. I think they miss the crap out of that guy.

Moss would not have made a difference. He had something like 150 yards and no TDs the rest of the season. He is done. Washed up. Finished. He is no longer an NFL caliber player. Kyle Wilson would have shut him down, that is if Moss could even beat Branch out and get onto the field. In Tennessee he couldn't beat out Britt.

Have fun.

You must be great on a date.

Dude, I'm the ultimate date guy. I got women lining up to date just based on my legend alone.

He was sorely missed yesterday. Nobody opens up the field like him and nobody has his game changing abilities. They need it desperately.

Nah, he just didnt like those situations...he would have lit it up again if he was still in NE. He was on pace for 16 TD's.

I agree with jif.. our dline did a great job getting pressure and we sat on short routes exposing the fact that the pats really didn't have too much of a deep threat.. Moss changes the complexion of that game a lot imo

Agreed. Scott said in the postgame (he said alot) that the D wasn't worried about the vertical game. It was all about hitting the receivers at the line and focus on the stuff in the middle.

Wrong, Revis would have had him for lunch and dinner. In that case, Moss would have folded. What the Pats could have used was a d-lineman and a linebacker....a pass rush specialist would have been nice.

Honestly, I think the Pats team over-achieved this year. Young, change on the fly, too many jags on d-line.

Anyway, congrats. The better team won last night. The defense was awesome.

Thanks Garb, the 2010 Pats was a good reference. I really think that team overachieved

Moss changes everything about the season for New England. I really dont think you can even guarantee that they make the playoffs if he is on the team. That offense opened up after he left. I guess he could have made a difference if for one game you bring him back and take out Branch, but I doubt it would have been that kind of difference. NE just never established anything on offense. Never even seemed to try after that first quarter. I couldnt believe that they ran Woodhead so much and kept the better runner on the bench when they tried to use the run against that front. Green-Ellis is at least a tank that keeps his legs moving. With so many DB's in the game he can run them over. Woodhead is so small that he cant. Even if he gets through the front of the line a secondary player can take him out one on one without a problem because he is so small.

Alk is right.

Yes, the 2007 Moss would have made a difference, but the 2010 Moss did not make a difference...anywhere.

Yep, Moss would have loafed and would have become disinterested if passes did not come his way.

Moss is living off his resume like Jerry Rice in his twilight years.

Disagree, they were scoring just fine with Moss and winning. They lost 1 game to a better team in the Jets. He scored. They missed him out there...I'm not saying they win, but he changes what the D was doing and could have helped them get back in the game with 1 catch.

Moss had 3 TD's in as many games with the Pats. He would have easily scored 15+ TD's in that offense, thats not living off a resume.

You missed him yesterday big time. Best big play WR ever, on that big of a stage...he makes a play in that game for sure. And its a play that nobody on the current roster can make.

If he's out there, you guys might be on your way to the Super Bowl...like you've been predicting for weeks now.

real good point on woodhead over the BJGE.. that was an odd choice

I didn't read every page but no way Moss makes a difference yesterday. The easiest thing for the jets defense to gameplan against is how to take away the opponents #1 reciever.

Nobody could even slow the pats down until yesterday after they rid themselves of Moss. It took several openminded defensive masterminds to gameplan against such a potent offense yesterday.

Revis shut down the 2008,2009 Moss & there's a VERY good chance he'd shut down the 2010 Moss yesterday.

While I too often like to insist I'm right, I have to turn down your insistence here. Moss went back to being a troll this year when they decided to do a couple different things with the offense...Have you asked yourself why they went away from Moss? The Jets played a big part of that, since we took away the outside of the field but left the middle wide open...Randy is an all or nothing type of guy, and bringing in those two TEs last offseason meant the offense was heading back inside and it probably insulted him. I DO agree that they need an outside threat, but Moss had clearly taken his name out of that ballot this year.

Give them Seymour and a healthy Warren and that game is completely different...I insist.
