Clue Mafia - Game on!

Lily

There is pretty much 0 % chance scum knew how to trigger the event, of that I am confident. Why do I know this? Because I triggered the death, and I had no idea what I had done. Go back and read how it all went down. Does it look like any of that could have possibly been planned? I answered a question by slats that in no way was a set-up for the response I gave that triggered the event.

I do believe you didn't intentionally trigger anything fwiw, but logically, you not purposely triggering the event doesn't mean scum didn't know about it for certain..

Still reading through the thread, but I think that's ridiculous.

You're suggesting that Lily gave the mafia a free day-kill for getting to the kitchen? (since that's what it would be - one person post about death, then no mafia post until a townie managed to get themselves killed by posting after it). Sorry, not buying it.

YEAH!!!

come in and smack that punk down.

In your face!!

Translation: Even though it was a completely nonsensical idea to even suggest that the scum knew what would trigger someone's death, let's get talking about it so we can stir up the masses with a conspiracy theory, subsequently leading to the lynching of an innocent. Or, in other words:

Nice try CTM, but you have to get up pretty early in the morning to fool even this noob.

I don't think it's completely nonsensical or "ridiculous". Lily made certain to tell us this was not a standard game, scum having a day kill that they may have to partially implicate themselves in isn't exactly off the table as far as I'm concerned. It's not likely, but I actually think it'd be a clever game play mechanic to work into a game..

Got caught up on the thread. I think I should be back rocking and rolling at some point tomorrow. Things are still a mess with this work situation, but I'm working on it. The dumb bitch is out as a reference, and I'm just working on a replacement. Under the circumstances, I'm done with this place no matter what happens, so I'm going all out and not worrying about who there knows, so now I'm going to talk to the VP for a reference. If not him, I have a few other directions I'll go until I get another replacement reference and then just move on with this whole thing. Beyond that I'm not really worrying about it.

Where's the Ape? For someone so in love with the sound of his own keystrokes he's been awfully quiet.

He's probably putting the finishing touches on his 3 page manifesto implicating 8 players involved in the kitchen nightmare.

As far as setup discussion, while it's not necessarily bad I think trying to draw too much out of it this early is excessive, especially with how little info we have to use. Unless the scum team doesn't have a standard NK, I'm not sure how it makes sense to give them the ability to setup a daykill event that they could easily avoid themselves and use to take out townies. Plus, based on everything Lily has said I'm very much getting the impression that we're all in the dark about what's going on in this game. I wouldn't make any conclusions about anything until we get at least another night phase and day event to measure based on.

I hope it all works out the way you want it to, BG.

Hmmm . . . should I tell them what the Kushiel series is about, or let them google it?

lmao you can tell them if you'd like ;) have you read it? I thoroughly enjoyed it *laughs*

Kitchen kill discussion is useless and scummy.

Why vote for CTM? I believe me and slats were the first to bring it up.

*nods* I agree, but I do think it may be useful down the road which is why I brought it up in the first place. I also find some people's reaction to it being brought up interesting.

I think its possible that they know the events, but it wouldn't be fair at all if they knew the triggers.

What's the deal with the colored voting, btw?

I just can't see it. It's never a great idea to completely rule out anything that the mod hasn't confirmed, but I would think something like that would/could cause some serious balancing issues (especially knowing the triggers). I suppose it couldn't be insane that someone on the scum team could have a night action to search a room, maybe find out what event is in the room or something. That certainly seems plausable...but even then it would have been too easy to get an extra kill of a RANDOM townie (which if they got lucky, could be a role) by setting it up and having everyone wait to post. I don't think there's much chance Lily would put that in.

With all that said, the discussion of it certainly has been interesting.

kinda predictable..

in any event, it was so useless that we're actually posting/voting and reacting to game related posts now..

i know, i know, discussing setup is always scummy though..

In predaturd game dpr wass pm'ing hints to players that they weren't allowed say how they found out about it in thread.. ( he confirmed for me that there was no thrid parties, jsut town and scum) before that game, I would've thought that was ridiculous, but it actually turned into a cool game play mechanic imo..

and yes on the bolded..

It;s funny how it's discussed every game and every game it ends being scummy yet at the same time gets the ball rolling from dick jokes to actual game play.

I won't confirm or deny a thing. But remember, DPR is my mentor....

As much as defending you at some point for a second straight game seems uber ghey...I know I haven't been around for a lot, but any time I've ever discussed the setup, I was town. Maybe scum were notorious for it early on here, I'm not sure. At the same time I think maybe IJ was caught one time off of it?

Interesting. Something else that comes to mind sort of connected to that was the Star Wars game. As Luke I found Vader (Dan), the first night, and she knew I found her and who I was, but couldn't mention it or bring it up to the scum and couldn't vote to lynch me under any circumstances. My point being that it's certainly possible that you can have some players with knowledge they aren't allowed to share with anyone else. However, considering the current situation that really can't reflect on to who voted for the kitchen at all, imo.

Even if ONE or even TWO people knew, and like you suggested with DPR's game, couldn't share with anyone else, there's no way to attain that from the voters. Additionally, pre-game a hint like "there are no third parties" seems much less powerful than, say, "the kitchen allows the death of a player"

Just my opinion.

Catching up... a friend from IT told me "they" are watching my interwebz activity at work. I might have gone a wee bit overboard posting from the job last game. I think a project manager probably ratted me out, despite the fact that I have like nothing to work on right now. Anyway, daytime posting will be lite - but I'll bring it in the evenings.

So what have we learned today?

1) The scum in all likelihood had no idea what would trigger the kitchen death.

2) Its possible the scum had some idea that someone could die in the kitchen.

3) Its also possible they know what will happen in other rooms.

Re-examining some of my fellow kitchen voters may be in order.

Umm. Yeah. I'm gonna need you to spend less time looking at monkey porn during work. Okay? That would be great.
