Shockey cut

Saints released TE Jeremy Shockey.

No shocker here. The Saints were never going to shell out $4.7 million for an injury-prone blocking specialist who can no longer make plays after the catch. Shockey failed to top 30 yards in a game after early October, and it soon became obvious that rookie Jimmy Graham offered far more playmaking ability. Turning 31 this August, Shockey's days as a fantasy starter are over. Nine seasons in the trenches have taken their toll on his legs. Graham, on the other hand, has a shot to be the breakout fantasy star at tight end next season.

So Jeremy Shockey is gonna put us over the hump?

Im sick of you all wanting us to sign every scrub some other team cuts.

Scrub? Excuse me but what makes the TE slugs other than Keller that we carry as TEs anything great? I dont remember any of them doing anything at all.

Take 2 aspirins and call me in the mornng for your sickness of me.

They can block and stay on the field. They probably each outweigh Shockey by 20 pounds. You don't remember them because they aren't a huge distractions. I also doubt you pay too much attention to in-line run blocking TEs.

Shockey is old. TEs are not generally a huge part of the Jets passing O and if they were looking for another pass catching target they carried Cumberland all season on the roster, so they obviously like him. Shockey was a nice player, but I'd be leery even if he came dirt cheap. The Giants dumped him because he was ruining Eli.

seriously Ruining Eli?!?!?!? That guy is awful on his own nothing/nobody needs to ruin him lol... he just about doubled the amount of ints thrown by Sanchez this season Sanchez = 13 ..Eli= 25 while playing less games and I dont wanna hear the "its not his fault" BS Ok understandable the Giants did win the superbowl AFTER they cut shockey but the saints won it with him therefore he didnt ruin Eli

What the **** does the Saints super bowl have to do with Eli?

For the record I hate Eli and I'm ecstatic that he is not the Jets QB. I think he has had a good line most of his career and spends too much time chucking and ducking. OTOH, there were plenty of specific comments about how Shockey and Barber were poisoning the clubhouse and not giving Eli the opportunity to lead. They were complaining in the huddle and on the sideline. There may be a level of bullsh*t to that, but why take the chance on an old guy with little production, who is more than likely a worse blocker than Mulligand and Hartsock? He probably won't come very cheap.

Jeremy Shockey plays all out on every down.

Unfortunately, his body now tells the tale of 9 pro seasons of being battered and bruised as bad as a starting RB (maybe worse. Most starting RBs, except for blitz pickups, do not block a lot).

Let JS go back to Miami where he played his college ball, and sign with the Dolphins.
