Who's calling the shots?

Scouts Inc.

Successful NFL front offices are only as good as their personnel decision makers. There are many different ways to structure a front office, and Scouts Inc. has attempted to break down all 32 teams, dissecting the power structure.

The following breakdown takes you inside each AFC team's personnel department, examining differing philosophies and the process in which each final personnel decision is made.

What I learned from this article is that Bradway is the one calling the shots on our draft selections without much input from Edwards.

Nothing new there. They actually gave Edwards more power in the last two years. Especially when it comes to putting together his own staff.

The initial Bradway/Edwards staff was a Terry/Woody production with some input from Herm but very little.

Last year, They let Herm interview and hire his guys.

It's a common practice with rookie head coaches that they do not get alot of power behind the scenes. Look at Mularkey. He came in last year. He inherited a bunch of assistants from the previous regime and Modrak and Donahue hired McNally and company.

Edwards has an advantage when it comes to giving input on players. Because he used to be a pro scout. So he knows how to scout players.

He did a real job the last two seasons with his coaching staff.

Look at the guys, He chose to interview for The DC job. Gregg Williams, Eric Mangini, Donnie Henderson, Ron Rivera. All these guys are very good defensive coaches.

Dinger's hiring is because when Tony and Herm ran Tampa. They interviewed Dinger and Herm liked him alot. That's why he is here right now.

The Jets as an organization have alot of money and time invested into scouting college and pro players. It's a deep staff. Jesse Kay is excellent.

So it was Bradway who brought in Teddy Cottrell (good 3-4 defensive coach) and Herm made him coach the cover 2?

P.S. ...Tony and Herm ran Tampa? Rick McKay an Tony Dungy maybe! Herm was only Assistant HC/Defensive Backs. He has never even been a coordinator at any level.

Woody wanted Teddy C for the staff. Teddy brought 3 of his own assistants with him to The Jets staff.

Question- How many assistant did Edwards bring with him from Tampa? NONE

And yes, Dungy and Edwards were involved in all staff hirings in Tampa. Edwards was 2nd in charge on that staff. He had more power on that staff than a coordinator has. He was a legitimate assistant head coach. Not one who just has that tag.

Curious, but who did Teddy C bring in? DB coach, Bill Bradley played with Edwards in Philly. Was he on Cottrell's satff in Buffalo? If so, did he follow him to Minnesota? He was a damn good safety during his playing days.

DL coach came from NE and LB coach (Sutton) came from ? but was the HC at Army.
