Turns out Phil Hughes is just bad, not hurt

Scott, let get back to the discussion at hand.

The Mess.....how are they doing

From what I've read this disease is the same thing that put Jeremy Bonderman out of baseball. I certainly don't wish that on Hughes.

Sure you don't

Ian Kennedy career 4.14 ERA, 1.272 WHIP

Phil Hughes career 4.46 ERA, 1.292 WHIP

Once again Dierk you are comparing apples to oranges

Phil pitches in the filthy AL East, while Kennedy pitches in the AAAA NL West

Diamondbacks stadium is a bandbox. Ian Kennedy is currently pitching, while Phil Hughes is still DL'ed to to suckiness.

As a Mess fan with nothing to root for except a Yankee off year, I suppose you need something to hang your hat on.

Nevertheless, Kennedy just doesn't have the stuff Hughes has. Kennedy is a 3 or 4 pitcher, whereas Hughes, when healthy can be a 1

The man in his 1st real season in the rotation won 18 games....I would say that justifies excitement over a starting pitcher

DO you even remember what it's like to have an 18 game winner?

Since 1990, no Met pitcher has reached the 18-win mark in a single season and only Al Leiter has won as many as 17 games, doing so in 1998. (Pedro Martinez is the only 17-game winner for the Expos/Nationals franchise over the past two decades, winning that many games in 1997, when he won the National League Cy Young Award.)

Scott, Scott, Scott......I feel bad for you. Having to pull Sabermetrics out when discussing wins and losses.

You are what you are. Phil Hughes is an 18 game Major League winner. Remember what Bill Parcells used to say?

I don't EVER want to see you use a stat in support of any baseball debate then.

I rarely debate...Normally I just state facts, and embarrass those that try to take me on ;)

Final time, simple question. What is Phil Hughes' injury?

Who cares...He's not right. In time, he'll get his giddyup going

Unreal. You're one to talk on the number of posts about a team that you don't follow. Hughes was terrible last season after May and he was terrible this season.

If 18 wins is terrible, what is decent?

You have to love madmikes commitment to Yankee players. They can do no wrong as there is always some kind of obscure stat that will back up his argument. Kudos you crazy bastard.

BTW: Phil Hughes is terrible.

Wishful thinking, Chump

When have you ever bashed a Yankee? And I would love to give a dissertation on how much I loathe John Lackey. Dude sucks and is a horrible teammate.

Wow, that's really going out there on a limb....How about a player like JD Drew that the team can't wait to get off the books. How about "Lil Dusty and his .237 suckass average. How about Youk and that beaver on his face. How about Lowrie for f-ing with you, thinking he actually was good. How about Paps and that retarded mug. How about Becks and his pompous douchiness. How about Dice-K for taking 2 days to pitch 6 innings. How about

Jenks for stealing John Henry's $$$$$.. How about Lying Larry Lucchino. How about that douchebag windbag Jerry Remy and his smokers rasp everyday? THere is so many to choose from.

Lackey is an easy choice

That thug just hit Asdrubal Cabrera.

Sorry to hear abut Lester

Looks like Lackey will have to step things up

Lester will be find in a week or two. So will Buchholz. Teams have injuries. The Sox have enough arms to patch them through.

Lol...sure they do....It's Beckett and pray for rain at this point

Wakefield and Miller have been more than serviceable. Aceves in a spot start will be fine. Hopefuy the young aces won't be out long.

Young aces? Another spin, huh Spin Cycle?

The Yankees haven't had one of those since Whitey Ford.

Doc Gooden pitched a no hitter for us, and David Cone a perfect game.

I mean, what else could you ask for

How would you describe mid twenties guys who are top of the rotation guys?

I would describe one of them out for the year....possibly for a career

The earthquake has knocked all communication out here. I did know that Hughes had a start today-How did that go?

You know, because why in the world would you watch the team you actually like?

Like I said, communication has been totally wiped out here. Just curious

Haven't heard much from you about Jeter lately? No communication working upstairs in your house?

Not a good night in the Dierking household.

Oddly, he and Shane have been mighty quiet as of late

4.94 ERA, 1.34 WHIP

Haven't heard from you his past starts when he went 6-1

Shocked about that too :russian:

Tell me where I am wrong.

Hughes goes on these little runs of mediocrity and the Yankee homers (Jone) circle jerk

I want to make it clear, circle jerking is not my thing

I'm a Dutch Rudder kind of guy

Thing is, I am not dumb enough to make predictions only to have them blow up immediately ;)

No, but you were dumb enough to say you'd take Dillon Gee over Hughes....that's plain STOOOPID

he already leads mlb in home runs allowed.

He doesn't get to face a pitcher 4 times a game either

He pitches well against below average offenses. He gets hammered by good offenses. Guess which he'll face come playoff time?

At least he'll be in the playoffs

At some point (and I would say that close to 150 appearances on the mlb level qualify), your talent becomes par with your performance. Hughes' has been no more than mediocre. One would surmise that his talent is similar.

WHere is John Maine these days?
