I could've gotten a quote like that form a tell-it-all book and pasted it here. Secondly, being forced to go to war doesn't make you a great person. Obviously I respect anyone who fights for our country, but I respect the ones who CHOOSE to fight for our country more. And you can't give me that crap, as I actually attempted to join the military when I was 17, but after my knee surgery, they wouldn't let me. I CHOSE to try and fight for my country, and I wasn't allowed because of an injury. I respect all soldiers everywhere, and I think it's everyone's (men and women) duty to step up for our country. So obviously I DO respect soldiers, but hiding behind the confines of a keyboard, you can't tell who's lying. People accuse me of lying, I'm accusing him of lying. And lying about something like that is UNACCEPTABLE. That is complete and utter disrespect for the men and women fighting overseas. He's the George Foreman of the internet. A promising career, a superstar future awaiting him, fame, notoriety, and killer jabs....then....he gets introspective. Wonders if its all worth it. gets knocked out by Mohammed Ali or...chased screaming like a 12 yr old girl by steelers fan (same thing)...and takes some time off to regroup, find his way, gain 60 pounds and mount a comeback. Sure, he's just a slightly over-fed novelty in a tight baseball shirt at first...but then he starts stickin'. Lettin that smooth jab fly. At first he knocks the bums around..just stickin those jabs...peekaboo defense....then he gets real! He drops three pounds... starts throwin haymakers, the crowd starts to wonder if he can put it all together again. Be the man he was before that fateful day when he peed his pants and shuddered, "don't hurt me, don't hurt me, don't hurt me". At some point there is a montage. Tomshane steps back into the ring. Stands tall amongst the barren wastelands of JN that had once been so fertile, so funny, so real. And as the Borgos and Idahos faded into the dust...a new giant, Nay! An old giant, reborn, stepped into the void, and totally enthralled the masses once again. He is not the Tom Shane of old. He is not the New Tom Shane. He is merely SHANE. And he's funny. And maybe a little mean to falcon. Which is also funny. Because he had no intention to mean in the first place. Still, he must now sell something on QVC. Ended up in the Navy. But...ah, what the Hell. Japanese submarine slammed two torpedoes into our side, chief. It was comin' back, from the island of Tinian to Laytee, just delivered the bomb. The Hiroshima bomb. Eleven hundred men went into the water. Vessel went down in twelve minutes. Didn't see the first shark for about a half an hour. Tiger. Thirteen footer. You know how you know that when you're in the water, chief? You tell by lookin' from the dorsal to the tail. What we didn't know... was our bomb mission had been so secret, no distress signal had been sent. Huh huh. They didn't even list us overdue for a week. Very first light, chief. The sharks come cruisin'. So we formed ourselves into tight groups. You know it's... kinda like ol' squares in battle like a, you see on a calendar, like the battle of Waterloo. And the idea was, the shark comes to the nearest man and that man, he'd start poundin' and hollerin' and screamin' and sometimes the shark would go away. Sometimes he wouldn't go away. Sometimes that shark, he looks right into you. Right into your eyes. You know the thing about a shark, he's got...lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'. Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white. And then, ah then you hear that terrible high pitch screamin' and the ocean turns red and spite of all the poundin' and the hollerin' they all come in and rip you to pieces. Y'know by the end of that first dawn, lost a hundred men! I don't know how many sharks, maybe a thousand! I don't know how many men, they averaged six an hour. On Thursday mornin' chief, I bumped into a friend of mine, Herbie Robinson from Cleveland. Baseball player, boson's mate. I thought he was asleep, reached over to wake him up. Bobbed up and down in the water, just like a kinda top. Up ended. Well... he'd been bitten in half below the waist. Noon the fifth day, Mr. Hooper, a Lockheed Ventura saw us, he swung in low and he saw us. He's a young pilot, a lot younger than Mr. Hooper, anyway he saw us and come in low. And three hours later a big fat PBY comes down and start to pick us up. You know that was the time I was most frightened? Waitin' for my turn. I'll never put on a lifejacket again. So, eleven hundred men went in the water, three hundred and sixteen men come out, the sharks took the rest, June the 29, 1945. Anyway, we delivered the bomb. ...I...I don't even know what to say. Not necessarily way off. What you're seeing is a typical narcissistic injury. When, as a whole, those he's trying to impress are wholly unimpressed. The porn pictures and cursing off mods is him 'taking his ball and going home'. The issue here though, is diagnosis is murky obviously because it's all posts, but more importantly, because he's incredibly stupid. It's hard to say where the line between narcissism and moron lies. After getting told why the life of an oft-injured snot-nosed kid who's going to complete the oh so impressive life accomplishment of playing D3 football is already far more impressive in all of life's accomplishments than myself or anyone else on this board, I was ready for some fun. But it appears I have missed it all. Although I do find it deeply upsetting that TS would dare lie so dramatically about being in the military.
