Edwards is the only must-sign on the list.

Holmes can be replaced, we just drafted 2 WR's and Keller was amazing when Holmes was gone, we probably wouldn't miss a beat.

Cromartie is good, but Cole and Coleman came on last year, and one more year of experience for Wilson. I think we would be fine.

Poole was a scrub to start, and Leonhard, Dig, and Smith can handle responsibilities back there, probably with an UDFA or FA also.

EDIT: Weatherford is a must sign also I think. We haven't had punting like that in a long time. But, what was with that playoff choke job?

You've never heard of teh falcon? He's only the most inspirational human being in the history of mankind...

Guess I need to read n' post more here, eh?

Oh, and big thanks to whichever Mod (Max?) that pinned this. I'll do my best to keep it up to date asap as we progress in the offseason.

Next up (assuming the lockout ever ends) is the always fun "Undrafted Free Agent Rodeo!" portion, as well as (I'm sure" a blitz of normal Free Agency.

Also be good to find out for sure which of our Free Agents are not actually FRee Agents if teh League is forced or agreed to the 2010 Capless Rules for 2011.

Problem with your theory is that I'm pretty sure that, in addition to covering like 270 lb LBs, Dig and Eric Smith are free agents too. IMO, Lowery is the correct answer. Robert Turner and Wayne Hunter are also .

I think Jason's list is more up to date than the one posted:

Shaun Ellis

Steve Weatherford

Brodney Pool

Tony Richardson

Braylon Edwards

Wayne Hunter

Trevor Pryce

Antonio Cromartie

Lance Laury

Santonio Holmes

Eric Smith

Brad Smith

Drew Coleman

Kellen Clemens

Restricted:

Nick Folk*

James Ihedigbo*

Robert Turner

* UFA in Capped Season

Jason's FA list

Rodrique Wright was waived in August and never brought back for a sniff. They aren't taking him back with Dixon, Gilbert and the draft picks. Patrick Turner signed a contract in January along with a bunch of guys most of us never heard of who should probably be listed. Nobody is signing real FAs, but a lot of low tier guys signed, including old NJ superstar Brian Toal.

February 9th Signed LB Brandon Long, LB Garrett McIntyre, and K Nick Novak CB Marquice Cole to 1 year contract; Signed LB Cody Brown, C Robby Felix, DE Carl Ihenacho, G Dennis Landolt, LB Brashton Satele to futures contracts

January 25th Signed DT Marcus Dixon to a 2 year contract; Signed DT Matt Kroul and WR Logan Payne to futures contracts.

January 24th Signed CB Marquice Cole to 1 year contract; Signed LB Cody Brown, C Robby Felix, DE Carl Ihenacho, G Dennis Landolt, LB Brashton Satele to futures contracts

January 22nd Signed DT Martin Tevaseu; Waived CB Isaiah Trufant.

January 21st Signed DE AJ Schable to futures contract

January 12th Signed WR Patrick Turner to a 2 year contract and S Richard Taylor and DT Lorenzo Washington to futures contracts.

January 10th Signed S Willfred Billingsley and G Marlon Davis to futures contracts.

January 8th Signed RB Carlos Brown to futures contract.

January 7th Signed P TJ Conley to a 3 year contract and QB Drew Willy to a 2 year contract.

January 5th Signed RB Chris Jennings, CB Ellis Lankster, LB Joey LaRocque, DT Carlton Powell, and LB Brian Toal to futures contracts.

No UDFA signings allowed as long as the lockout is in effect. It'll kick in along with everything else once that ends and some sort of 2011 league year rules are in place (even if it's just repeat of the 2010 rules). The draft was covered by the old CBA / league year, but nothing else. As far as when the lockout will end, that all depends on the ruling from the appeals court, as it's only in effect because of a stay on the previous ruling. If the owners lose the appeal, then the stay will end and the lockout will be done for good.

Aye, thats what I thought.

And aye (to Dominator) Jasons work is far better than my own. This thread (which I did every year on JI) is really emant as an easy to see bullet point of the big items, not an ultra-detailed list of every never-gonna-make-it #79th guy on the offseason roster list, tbh. Most of what I leave off are players who have no shot at making the team, or have been perenial training camp fodder.

Probably though, I could link to Jasons excelelnt website at the bottom, for "further research", since Jason's work is utterly awesome (as he is as a poster and football opinion guy IMO).

Sorry. I didn't mean to put down your work. I figured you wanted the most correct info. I understand that you don't want to list every Drew Willy signed, but a few of those guys will make the team and several were carried last year - Cole, Patrick Turner, Satele, Kroul, Dixon, Felix. A few have NFL credentials (Umm.. Umm...) Ellis Lankster, Cody Brown, Brian Toal. The list of signings was more in response to the "can we sign FAs" comment. I would update the list of free agents because you are missing some key guys in the first post. Your list is missing Eric Smith, Ihedigbo, Hunter, Rob Turner and a few others that saw significant time on the field.

Sorry if this post isn't polite enough. I wrote a very nice one on my ******* phone and it wouldn't post, so this is what you get!

Oh I thought Holmes was the best receiver we had, your probably right we wont miss a beat cause we got a couple rook WR and TE...c'mon man Holmes is great

I think Holmes is better than Edwards, but I trust Edwards more. It's going to come down the RFA/UFA rules and how much each is asking for. Note that the draft pick WRs are aimed toward replacing Holmes than Edwards.

OP Updated

Good stuff.

Dajuan Morgan isn't an UDFA S from Virginia that was cut. He was a FA S pickup and former 3rd rounder from NC State who was *supposed* to be a special teams ace. He'd played for the Chiefs and Colts I think and he *did* get cut. Davon Morgan is the S from Virginia a priority FA and he got some run on Monday night wearing Ronnie Lott and John Booty's #42 and he's still around. I don't think people liked him much so he'll probably be gone soon too.
