Dude Love
Talk about a sacrifice that will warm your heart. A group of older Japanese folks are asking for permission to clean up the contaminated nuclear power station in Fukushima. More than 200 retirees are volunteering to take the place of young people who are exposing themselves to high levels of radiation. The group figures they have less than 20 years to live and will be dead before any radiation induced cancer develops. It's a different story for the young people who have battled in this war zone for three months and are at great risk for developing cancer as they grow older. All that is stopping these pensioners from donning their radiation suits is the Japanese government which unfortunately is dragging its bureaucratic feet. [bBC] http://gizmodo.com/5...nderstand-video We can't even get our senior citizens to allow medicare and SS to be reformed, even though they know it will bankrupt the country and destroy the future of our children. We can't even get people here to not post politics. Even thought they have been told 800 times to leave the topics along.
New York Mick
We can't even get people here to not post politics. Even thought they have been told 800 times to leave the topics along. Not everything is a political topic. Something are a human, financial or social topic. It's ok to talk about mindless stupid sh*t like Jersey Shore and Transgender Prom Queens but bring up something that's actually important like drug testing for welfare and it gets locked. Other then a few morons that are going to make it a race or political topic everyone else here has the ability to have an intelligent non political/race debate about stuff. Especially about a topic that has nothing to do with politics. We get drug tested for work, sports, insurance, accidents and a bunch of other sh*t but we can't talk about it if it's for welfare? Disclaimer: This rant has nothing to do with politics, religion, race, sexual orientation, metal ability, height, weight, physical ability or anything else that gets oversensitive people's panties in a bunch. New York Mick
As far as the old people offering to do the job to save the lives of the younger ones, it's pretty bad a$$ for them to step up.

I agree with the premise that we SHOULD be able to talk about these topics. Sadly people here have proven time and time again that partisan politics are more important to them and things get ugly. Consistently.
JerryK
I agree with Max. Politics is a sporting event; it has nothing to do with discourse or reason. We see the ball coming and take turns whacking it over the net, hoping to defeat the evildoers (who are also our friends until politics happens). Have you ever had a friend that you later found out was 'one of them'? Great person, fun to hang with, then everything goes to hell because they don't have the right color hook in their back. Politics is for suckers, and it demonstrates humanity's weakness as a species.
