RutgersJetFan
Cocaine Bear is everything I've ever wanted in a movie about a bear on cocaine and more. It's the best movie you'll ever see about a bear on cocaine, hands down. In fact in the animals on cocaine genre, it might be the best ever. If Citizen Kane was a bear on cocaine, Cocaine Bear would be better than that. If Casino was about a bunch of bears on cocaine running casinos, Cocaine Bear would be the better film. It's that good. 2

Integrity28
So, the wife and I rewatched The Fugitive last night after probably not seeing it in 2 decades. Nobody movie stars like Harrison Ford, nobody. Jane Lynch as the lab tech was a nice surprise.

The only thing I ever liked him in was Megamind, mainly because he played a moron that I didn't have to look at. Yea, I’m not the biggest fan of his or Seth Rogen. Both overrated. Riven ruins half of what he’s in. I do like Jonah in the Wolf of Wall Street. His character there is wild. I also like that documentary he did with his shrink, but ultimately chuckled waiting for the real deep stuff for his mental health struggles, only to find he was a chubby kid. That was it. Hahaha, look at humanity, chubby kid? Not trying to minimize it, at all. Just sayin… You got off lucky bro.

I think the point of the film was to destigmatize therapy itself rather than to get people to feel sorry for him.

PFSIKH
So this weekend I dropped $5.99 for "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent". I cannot say I did not have expectations. Especially, giving its title and that Nicholas Cage was in it. Was it a comedy? Drama? Dramedy? It was ok. Whether it was trying to be what I listed or something else, it failed. If sone right, IMHO, it could have been like Tropic Thunder or Rock of Ages. Not serious, but plenty of laughs.
Beerfish
I am notoriously late seeing many high profile movies, I do not as a rule go to movies at theaters anymore so I wait until they come on tv or I go to the Library and take out dvds the odd time. I got 'Tenet' from the library and watched it since it is a Nolan film and I quite enjoyed Inception. Tenet had a few interesting concepts but the execution, acting and general story-line was not close to as good as Inception. In fact I thought it kind of sucked.

My wife and I saw Tenet after it was just released when movie theaters here in TN started to open after COVID. We received a text that the theater was closed driving there. We were the only people in the theater.

RutgersJetFan
I loved The Whale and think Fraser's Oscar was very well deserved. The movie has been analyzed to death, but my take on it is that it's a fresh point of view on just how impactful decisions are that parents make. And not just for their children, but the entire community around said children. Charlie's character is this quirky protagonist and antagonist all wrapped up in one, and days later my wife and I have still been discussing how we feel about the things he chose to do. I do not think it was the best movie of the year, but it was probably the most thought provoking.

Real life is depressing enough. I don't think it's depressing at all and I don't think that's Aronofsky's intention. For the most part I think it's about a parent trying to find closure for screwing up in the worst way possible and I don't think the questions it poses are depressing. Reminded me of Gone Baby Gone, not with respect to the story but more the overall concept of the characters and the viewer getting closure but everyone being left with some really big questions to talk about when the credits start rolling. Also worth noting is that with the exception of The Wrestler, I generally hate Aronofsky movies. I've been pretty taken aback by how much he won me over with this one.

JetPotato
Don't know how I'm just catching on to this now, but I highly recommend Jonathan Glazer's film Sexy Beast. Ray Winstone, Ben Kingsley, Ian McShane... all brilliant.
Jet_Engine1
Dungeons and Dragons. Stupid, silly, derivative crap that I enjoyed the sh*t out of. Haven't been so "entertained" by a movie this much in a while. The marketing has been terrible, this is a fun movie with likeable characters from start to finish. I hope they make more. It's Guardians of the Galaxy in a D&D setting, but imo better.
Larz
Watched top gun maverick again last night. Not a perfect movie, but it’s close. For me my second favorite video game of all time is ace combat IV, and the final mission with the canyon run , the inverted dive, the sam’s, then a dogfight was a dream.

RutgersJetFan
I watched A Man Called Otto on an airplane yesterday. It's a standard Tom Hanks movie if you like Tom Hanks, in that you're not getting a groundbreaking film or anything, but it's quite an enjoyable way to kill some time.
