Wouldn't want you to be too hard on yourself about this one, since you invest yourself in movies to a weird degree.

RutgersJetFan
New 300 actually isn't too bad if you go into it with realistic expectations. The sea battles are pretty awesome in 3D IMAX. The real problem with everything is that Spartans are infinitely cooler than Athenians and the dude who plays Thermistocles is fighting an impossible battle trying to live up to Butler's Leonidas. You get to see Artemisia's rack also, which is fantastic.

BroadwayJoe12
Has anyone here seen the new Old Boy? Just saw Spike Lee's remake and was less than impressed. I was pretty surprised as Brolin and Copley are usually pretty spot on. The only redeeming quality was getting to see the younger Olsen sister, I find her strangely attractive. Don't want to give the plot up for those who haven't seen it, but talk about f*cking with your head.
SenorGato
The first half an hour of The Purge is an abomination all it's own. Wow. It's just bad. Edited March 10, 2014 by SenorGato
BroadwayJoe12
The first half an hour of The Purge is an abomination all it's own. Wow. It's just bad. SenorGato
Probably the worst movie that I've seen since I saw Nicholas Cages' remake of the Wicker Man. It just doesn't make sense. I finished the movie and it probably got worse. Get the feeling it's supposed to be a comedy of some sort, maybe a satire of a satire. #27TheDominator
So I watched Seven Samurai again. That is why I just got home now. ******* thing is long. Great, but long. I didn't realize it was like 3 1/2 hours or I wouldn't have watched before running the NY to VA trip. Great, great film that suffers a bit from having been copied so much. She liked it, but was disappointed at the lack of blood and decapitations in comparison with 13 Assassins.
#27TheDominator
Who is she? Are you really watching it? I'm not an an anime person but it really is good. What makes netflix great is no commercials so it's like 20 mins an episode. I've been watching them late night on my computer in bed instead of reading and watching porn. Samauri Champloo was really good too. She wasn't sucked in by Samurai Champloo. I started in on it once I finished Titan and she is getting into it a bit. We figured out the reason she didn't like it much was 1. she was watching it in English instead of Japanese with subtitles (she says "WHAT'S THE POINT?!?!") and 2. She is not fond of hip hop and the sound track was putting her off. It's pretty good. Bonus points for a flying squirrel named MoMo - that's the name of my godson's hamster. power watched attack on Titan.. def good, if a little drawn out in spots. But I was instantly reminded why I don't watch series until the are a few years in., it sucks not knowing what happenns next Ha! My girl is still pissed that hse does not have the new season yet! I am insanely jealous of anyone that has never seen Breaking Bad. To get to experience seasons 3-5 for the first time is so awesome that it hurts. I went thru the entire "Breaking Bad" in about 3 weeks. You are right 1st 2 seasons I'm wondering where is the meat and potatoes with this show. Then BAM there it was. But truth be told I may have lost alot of the excitment most had with the show without the week to week or months in between seasons. Also I was bummed when I finished. Went thru season 6 in one sitting. It also had one of the coolest death scenes I have ever seen (You know what I'm talking about). Watching it now. Halfway through season 2. Of course I forgot the Roku in NY, so I am either waiting, buying another or watching on the computer. Maybe chromecast. We will see. RutgersJetFan
Strong recommendation for The Summit, which just got thrown up on Netflix. It's about the famous K2 deaths of 2008. If you're a Touching the Void fan, the actual story of what happened up there is certainly right up on that level. Plus it's shot incredibly well. The Crusher
Just watched Shaun of the Dead with my sons yesterday. I found it to be hysterical. I liked how they kept making the point of what an out of touch idiot Shaun was right up to him ignoring the zombies until one tried to eat him. Throwing a rock at a strange girl in your yard is an awesome way to say hello. LOL

RutgersJetFan
Nebraska is fantastic. I always forget how great Bruce Dern is. BTW, Alexander Payne has a pretty incredible directorial resume when you break it down: Election About Schmidt Sideways The Descendents Nebraska That is one hell of a list. Every single one of those is a classic.
