Scott Dierking 131,981 #71 Posted July 5, 2011 http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rodrial01.shtml He's played 315 more games as a Yankee than as a Mariner, has almost 100 more homers in a Yankee uniform, two MVP awards as a Yankee, 0 as a Mariner, 7 all star appearances with the Yankees, 4 with the Mariners. Oh, and a World Series MVP award as a Yankee. Its not close. He's a Yankee. MLB supposedly decides by "what team was most "influential on his career"-Whatever that is to mean. Most likely, if AROD finishes his contract as a Yankee, that is the way they point. Again, if he even gets inducted. The line has been drawn pretty hard. Klecko73isGod 124,089 #72 Posted July 5, 2011 Matsui won the World Series MVP, other than that...its pretty damn obvious. Sorry, meant ALCS. I knew baseball reference was wrong!

Point being that obnoxiously arrogant hacks who consider themselves to be the guardians of the game maybe need to take a good look at their own behavior before they disqualify anyone from the Hall. It was a crime reporter who broke the Balco story, not a sports writer. Why weren't they guarding the game while they watched Mark McGwire openly ingest andro and other "supplements" in the clubhouse?

Klecko73isGod 124,089 #77 Posted July 5, 2011 The litmus test comes next year as both the dopes-Clemens and Bonds go up. Whats funny is that if your remove steroids from the equation, they would both be locks to be first ballot guys - neither unanimous obviously, hell Willie Mays only got 96% of the vote (why the hell wouldn't you vote for Willie Mays?) But they both had such bad relationships with the media it makes it clear they won't get in. Palmiero was much more well liked by the press and they shunned him even though he is one of only two 500 homer, 3000 hit guys in major league history. Maxman 530,973 #81 Posted July 6, 2011 If Mark McGwire isn't getting in the Hall, why would ARod? Look at McGwire. Look at ARod. That's why. I'm fine with ARod not getting in for the record. Throw Clemens in prison, keep them all out of the Hall, I am totally fine with that actually.

We're talking about Derek Jeter...one of the best ever At a time he should be celebrated, you continue with little pot shots, when in truth you were hoping and praying David Wright was your Jeter. Nope, guess we have to keep waiting for the next great Met, while Yankee fans have another all timer we can all be proud of Edited July 7, 2011 by JonEJet

Nope, guess we have to keep waiting for the next great Met, while Yankee fans have another all timer we can all be proud of You can respect and celebrate Jeter's career accomplishments. And they are great. he has been a major contributor to 5 championships. Fact is he is having an awful season. And the HBO documentary he allowed and commissioned for cash payment is a lot like his contract demands; he asked for it. No one held a gun to his head to demand $17 million per year, nor to have HBO pay him a small fortune, nor that bloodsucker Steiner to auction off everything associated with this 3000 chase down to his socks. And if you ask for all that attention, he shouldn't be surprised when objectively people point out he has become an old below average batter with zero pwoer and a middle infielder with limited range. Further, Jeter is a boring guy, spare banging starlets. Most athletes are. He is not Curt Schilling, chock full of opinions whether you like them or not. He is not a genuinenly nice man like Adam Graves(which is not to say he's a bd guy, but by no means a saint). With the press, he is a cliche machine. In public appearances, unless you are a hot chick, he couldn't care less. So the idea that anyone is going to wait to see he insights-45 minutes of empty cliches on HBO- is really a waste of time. Ultimately if Jeter has a problem with all this hype, he can look in the mirror for the guy to blame. For example, Tony Gwynn didn't do this. In fact he hit his 3000th hit in practically empty Olympic Stadium in Montreal. Edited July 7, 2011 by Bugg

He, like just about everyone would, is looking to maximize his earnings both on and off the field. This isn't really shocking. Which is the problem. The Yanks dropped out of 1st place and lost a game to the Rays. At this rate wonder if Jeter is considering pulling a Joe Dimaggio and pakcing it in after this season or next. At $17 million per through 2013, doubt it. Edited July 8, 2011 by Bugg
