JetNation Posted October 23, 2011 Share Posted October 23, 2011 The ghost of Same old Jets past seemed to resurface in the 1st quarter when a completion by Mark Sanchez to Dustin Keller resulted in a San Diego touchdown. The Jets worked through the early miscue and overcame several deficits to beat the Chargers 27 – 21. The Jets now head into the bye week with a record of 4 and 3. In the meantime here are some notes on the game: QB Mark Sanchez threw three touchdown passes in a game for the fifth time in his career (including the postseason). In the game, he finished 18-of-33 for 173 yards, three touchdowns with one interception and a rating of 87.1. WR Jeremy Kerley established a career-best in receptions (4 – 29). Kerley hauled in three passes on third down, including receptions of 10 yards on third-and-five and eight yards on third-and-seven during the team’s 10-play, 55-yard scoring drive that cut the deficit to 21-17 in the third quarter Second Half Defense: Trailing 21-10 at the half, the Jets defense did not allow any points in the second half and forced two turnovers that led to the final 10 points of the game in a 27-21 victory. The second half effort was keyed by forcing the Chargers into one-of-seven on third down. K Nick Folk improved to 10-for-10 this season on field goal attempts after converting both opportunities today, a 35-yarder to open the scoring for the Jets and a 30-yarder in the fourth quarter to stretch the lead to 27-21. Defensive Standouts: Darrelle Revis added his 4th INT of the year. Kyle Wilson had his first career INT and LB Aaron Maybin is now tied with LB Calvin Pace for the team lead in sacks with three.
