After a disappointing December, that included back-to-back losses against the Eagles and the Giants, the playoffs were a long shot for the Jets.  They took the field against the Dolphins and made it clear that they didn’t need help from other teams.  The Jets decided their own playoff fate with a 19 – 17 loss in Miami.

The lack of offense continues to plague this team.  There is much debate over the cause and unfortunately there are multiple right answers.  There is plenty of blame to go around between the offensive line, Mark Sanchez and Brian Schottenheimer.  That said, the is officially on because the Jets are not going to give up on their investment in Mark Sanchez.  Sanchez had a terrible game with three interceptions and just over 200 yards passing.

MIAMI — Mark Sanchez threw three interceptions and the New York Jets were eliminated from the AFC wild-card playoff race Sunday when they lost 19-17 to the Miami Dolphins.

Each turnover led to a field goal, and the Jets gave up six third-down conversions during the Dolphins’ 21-play, 94-yard drive for their only touchdown.

The Jets (8-8) came into the game needing a win along with losses by three other teams to reach the playoffs. Instead, they finished the season with three consecutive defeats, a big step backward for a team that reached the AFC championship game each of the past two years.

The Dolphins (6-10) completed their third consecutive losing season, their longest such stretch since the 1960s.

As the NY Jets head into the offseason, JetNation.com will be here to provide you updates on all of the roster moves and coaching updates as they happen.
