flgreen
There's no truth to the rumor that the Jets lost their bye week as Rex Ryan had hoped, but we are back for our first post-bye week chat. So, let's get rolling.... by Manish Mehta 11:01 AM What is your realistic assessment of the Jets playoff push? by Rollingzep 11:03 AM I'm going to be honest: I think the Jets are going to make the postseason. The other teams in contention for the last wildcard spot don't impress me at all. The Titans were formidable until Locker was lost for the season. The Chargers schedule is just too tough. And the Dolphins? Well, you saw what happened last night on the field and what has happened to them off the field in the past couple weeks. I still wouldn't count out the Steelers just yet, but I have a feeling that the Jets will be the No. 6 seed.
flgreen
With the Jets being chased by the Dolphins, Ravens, Chargers, and Titans, which team do you feel is the larges threat to the Jets for the final wild card spot? by Kyle 11:05 AM The Ravens are the other team that may challenge the Jets for that second wildcard spot (Sorry, they slipped my mind). That's why Jets at Ravens in two weeks will be huge. by Manish Mehta 11:06 AM why don't the jets throw deep more often to hill? you stretch the defense by throwing deep balls by Jeremy 11:06 AM That's a good question that I don't have a concrete answer for... Hill has been a big disappointment to this point. Philosophically it makes sense, but the Jets are trending towards the more conservative side in recent weeks to help limit Geno Smith's turnovers. flgreen
If I had to predict the outcome of the Jets remaining games, I would say Bills - W Ravens - L Dolphins - W Raiders - W Panthers - L Browns - W Dolphins - W. Let's hear your predictions Manish! Since I've been so great with predictions this year (insert jokes here)... Let me try again: Beat the Bills, Lose to the Ravens, beat the Dolphins, beat the Raiders, Lose to the Panthers, beat the Browns, Beat the Dolphins, by Manish Mehta 11:10 AM
flgreen
Is Geno the QB of the future? by stsi1031 11:10 AM I think so. The organization wants to see more though. by Manish Mehta 11:10 AM
flgreen
OH EM GEE. The Jets are 5-4......WHO KNEW! How could ESPN be SO completely wrong when they scouted this team? How embarrassing is that? ESPN Analysts get paid to make smart, thoughtful predictions about teams, and man were they wrong. Egg on their face! Yes, they were wrong. It happens. I always thought it was ridiculous to rank them dead last. Everyone knew the Jags were going to hold that distinction.
flgreen
Does it seem like they've found a hit in the draft in Winters? by Brian 11:12 AM Way too early to know. He's made his fair share of mistakes to this point. by Manish Mehta 11:12 AM
flgreen
Do you feel Geno may be getting held back, that it may slow down his growth by Sammy Ice 11:12 AM Mary M has done a nice job with Geno... The Jets have a legit shot to make the postseason now, so they will do anything and everything to try to get even if it means reeling in Geno a bit. flgreen
if the jets don't make the playoff should we try to lose some games so we can get better draft pick spots? by Kyle 11:14 AM No... The Jets are well beyond at that. They have a one game lead for the last wildcard spot with seven games to go. The last thing the organization is thinking about right now is getting a better draft position.
flgreen
is jeremy kerley a potential pro bowler? by money 11:15 AM Nice, solid player. Not a Pro Bowler. by Manish Mehta 11:15 AM
flgreen
How many games do you expect Kerley to miss? by Brian R. 11:15 AM He's out for the foreseeable future. by Manish Mehta 11:15 AM
flgreen
With the Jets tendencies to use their first round draft pick on defense and their glaring need for a WR1 especially after the potential release of Santonio Holmes, do you feel that they should target an offensive playmaker in the first round of the 2014 draft, or continue to take the BPA and fill that void in free agency? by nick laplaca 11:16 AM They need an offensive playmaker. I think they will go in that direction early in the draft. by Manish Mehta 11:17 AM
flgreen
Over/Under 8 sacks on EJ Manuel again for the Jets defense Sunday by Matt 11:17 AM I'll take the under with confidence. by Manish Mehta 11:17 AM

flgreen
Looking to this offseason, do you think the best thing for the Jets & Geno Smith is to let go of Santonio Holmes? I'm torn on this. by Mikey 11:18 AM Holmes will not be back with the team in 2014. by Manish Mehta 11:19 AM
flgreen
How nice would it had been if the Jets drafted Richardson 9th and then Eifert 13th. Now that would had been a very good 1st rd tandem. However, I am not bashing Milliner, I do believe he'll be a very good corner, buit Eifert would had been a nice addition on offense at this moment in time by NYJets12 11:19 AM Hindsight is 20/20... The best case scenario would have been to draft Richardson at No. 9 and sign Revis to a long-term deal. That would have made this defense downright scary. by Manish Mehta 11:20 AM
flgreen
How much longer do you expect the Jets to wait on Stephen Hill? He is still raw and is deemed by many a "4 year project". Can the Jets afford to wait? by Mikey 11:20 AM Hill will play out his rookie contract. He still has time to improve. I wouldn't press the panic button just yet, but sooner or later you need to see some progress. by Manish Mehta 11:21 AM
flgreen
Hey Manish, the AFC east is now being led by three puppies (Geno, EJ and Ryan) and one stud. How many of the young guns are still slinging the rock in the AFC East by the time Grandpa Brady retires? For purpose of this exercise let’s say he retires after the 2017 superbowl That's a great question, Derek. I'll say Geno and EJ will still be with their respective teams. Dolphins will have a new guy by 2018. by Manish Mehta 11:22 AM
flgreen
Lets say Holmes ends up being a big reason the Jets make the playoffs/go deep into the playoffs. Do you think they could possibly find a way to retain him? by Wesley Sniper 11:22 AM Only if he's willing to take a massive pay cut... And then, it's still not a lock that the team would want him back. by Manish Mehta 11:23 AM
flgreen
Is David Nelson the 3rd best receiver for the Jets by bob 11:23 AM When healthy, the top three WRs on this team are: Holmes, Kerley and, yes, Nelson.... Hill has become a distant fourth. by Manish Mehta 11:24 AM
flgreen
I think the biggest reason for our early success is Rex. Is there any scenario you see that Rex is fired after the season? This team was stripped down last offseason. by briguy 11:24 AM I completely agree. Give credit where it's due: Rex and his staff have done a tremendous job to this point. Barring a massive collapse, I see no reason why Woody wouldn't retain him. Since Rexis signed thru 2014, you'd want to avoid a true lame-duck situation... so an extension for Rex would almost certainly occur. If the Jets make the playoffs and win a game or two, for example, I'd expect Rex to get a multi-year extension.
flgreen
Give us a bold prediction for Sunday, I say Milliner gets his first pick by Matt 11:26 AM Two TDs for No. 10. by Manish Mehta 11:27 AM
flgreen
Have the Jets recently brought in any vet WRs for workouts? Braylon? Lloyd? Even Branch? If not, why? by Dave 11:29 AM Jets worked out WRs yesterday/today.... They're not going to spend $$ for those vets. They're looking for an affordable player to fill the void left by Kerley's absence. by Manish Mehta 11:30 AM
flgreen
Hey Manish, we clearly need to look at an offensive upgrade at wide receiver this offseason... Do you see the jets making this type of move through free agency or building through the draft? by jfm 11:31 AM Both... but Idzik's plan will be to set a foundation through the draft. Cheaper... less risk on his part too. by Manish Mehta 11:31 AM
flgreen
Sorry Manish, I meant Cumberland... Do you expect Cumberland to be productive this week? by Travis 11:32 AM Remember, he's coming off a concussion and hamstring issue. He has the talent to be a quality TE, but his playing time will likely be curtailed by Winslow's return. by Manish Mehta 11:33 AM
flgreen
Do you think Wilkerson has a legitimate chance to get DPOY? What about Geno and Richardson for OROY and DROY, assuming they keep winning and make a playoff berth? by Wesley Sniper 11:33 AM Wilkerson certainly deserves consideration for DPOY... Richardson is one of the Top3 defensive rookies so far. by Manish Mehta 11:34 AM
flgreen
With there being a need at WR have you heard about them bringing Spadola back or has that ship sailed? flgreen
Now based on tape, do we actually know if Hill is getting looks or is he unaware how to separate himself from DBs? Also, I completely agree with you on the young Qbs of the future AFC East, I think Tannehill is let go, when that coaching staff and GM get fired I'm sure he's aware of how to get separation, but his execution is lacking. Off the top of my head, I do remember him torching a couple defenders in the Pitt game that should have gone for a long TD, but Geno overthrew him. Bit those moments have been few and far between. by Manish Mehta 11:39 AM
flgreen
Your prediction of the positions the Jets target in the first 3 rounds of the 2014 draft? I'm going WR, TE, RB by Mikey 11:39 AM Will the JETS trade up in the draft to snag one of the top 3 WRs? by Swab 11:41 AM Let's find out their draft position before we predict the unpredictable. by Manish Mehta 11:41 AM
flgreen
Just for fun, lets say Sanchez doesn't get injured and ends up starting the season. flgreen
so after how many snaps does holmes start complaining he isnt getting the ball enough after being a non factor for more than half the season? by 29 murdock 11:42 AM With Holmes, you never know. flgreen
Who do you predict will be the QBs on the roster next year? Geno, Simms + WHO?
