The Jets lost Danny Lansanah, a linebacker who has spent time on the team's practice squad and active roster this season but has not appeared in a regular season game, to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers claimed Lansanah off the Jets practice squad after Jonathan Casillas was designated to injured reserve.

To fill the vacancy on their practice squad, the Jets signed Tim Fugger, a pass-rushing linebacker. Fugger had 14 sacks and eight forced fumbles in 47 games at Vanderbilt. During pre-draft workouts in 2012, he demonstrated an impressive combination of size and speed -- at 6-3 and 248 pounds, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.60 seconds.

The Indianapolis Colts drafted Fugger in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft, but a sports hernia cost him time during rookie camp. Fugger was cut Sept. 3, 2012.

"We loved his tape coming out of college," Colts coach Chuck Pagano said at the time. "High-motor guy, played at a high level, in one of the best conferences in college football. Unfortunately for Tim, he just wasn't able to put in a body of work out there to make a solid decision on him just because of the injuries, and that's not his fault."

Fugger signed with the Arizona Cardinals last January, but was waived with an injury settlement in July. He was on the Jets practice squad Wednesday, wearing a green No. 57 jersey.
