JetNation Posted March 8, 2014 Share Posted March 8, 2014 Today the New York Jets solidify a position of need by signing tight end Jeff Cumberland on a three year deal. Its obvious the Jets believe that Cumberland can still contribute on the offensive side of the ball and help them win games. Cumberland started 12 games last year and was a solid target for Geno Smith finishing the season with 26 receptions for 398 yards and four touchdowns. Jets brain trust is also high on TE Zach Sudfeld's potential, per team source. When Sudfeld did see playing time, he showed some play making ability and the Jets likely see the upside of having him in green and white. Having both these players on the roster adds depth but it does not mean the Jets wont look at more tight end prospects in the upcoming NFL draft to strengthen the position.
