re the " key dates "...

~ ~  The Jets hadalready moved from No. 6 to No. 5 on Saturday, when Washington knocked off the Eagles. But the Jets weren't done moving up in the draft order as a result of games played during Week 16.

The Jets' 17-16 loss to the Patriots, coupled with the Raiders' 26-24 victory over the Bills on Sunday, has also vaulted the Jets past the Raiders and up to fourth in the draft order.

Here, with Monday night's Broncos-Bengals games yet to be played in Week 16, is how the draft order shakes out. Team's records and strength-of-schedule percentages are in parentheses :

6. Washington (4-11, .476)
5. Raiders (3-12, .563)
4. Jets (3-12, .554)
3. Jaguars (3-12, .511)
2. Bucs (2-13, .489)
1. Titans (2-13, .484)

You'll note that strength-of-schedule is used to break all ties in the draft order, rather than head-to-head. That explains why the Jets would jump past the Raiders even though they beat the Raiders back in the season opener. You'll also note that the Titans passed the Bucs for the top pick. Some thanks the Bucs get for playing the 11-4 Packers this late in the season and losing, 20-3.
