Plaxico Burress: Where will wide receiver end up?

When the NFL labor situation is resolved, teams will have the chance — if they choose — to bid on a free-agent class that will include Plaxico Burress, who was released from prison today. Giants running back Brandon Jacobs told The Star-Ledger last week that the Eagles and Rams could be landing points for Burress, but anything’s possible. With odds provided by betting site bodog.com, a look at which situations might make sense for the standout receiver:

TEAM, ODDS

Eagles, 3-2

Made it work with Michael Vick, and they’d gain size they don’t have on outside to complement DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin.

Jets, 3-1

Wouldn’t require a household move for Burress, but he’s likely behind Braylon Edwards, Santonio Holmes and maybe Randy Moss on list of priorities.

Rams, 11-2

Coach Steve Spagnuolo, the former Giants D-coordinator, saw Burress up close at his best on the way to Super Bowl XLII; Rams don’t have prime target.

Redskins, 15-2

Owner Daniel Snyder has overspent for past-their-prime free agents before, all in the name of making a splash (see: Deion Sanders, Bruce Smith).

Vikings, 15-2

Agent Drew Rosenhaus, who represents Burress and Sidney Rice, tweeted today that Rice is in his “best shape ... ever.” But if he’s not ...
