Jets set to Move on From Failed Laken Tomlinson Signing

Laken Tomlinson

Looking to create cap room and fix a broken offensive line, the Jets are moving on from left guard Laken Tomlinson after two very forgettable seasons in Green and White.

The #Jets are releasing guard Laken Tomlinson, per source.

Move saves around $8.1M on the cap.

Incredibly durable player has started 114 straight games.

The move will free up $8.1 million for Joe Douglas to play with when free agency starts in just a couple of weeks.  The Jets signed Tomlinson with hopes of solidifying the left guard position but despite an impressive list of accolades upon arrival, Tomlinson never lived up to the hype.

Having never missed a game for the Jets, the former 49er was incredibly durable, but that’s not always a good thing when you can’t block anyone.  Week in and week out, Tomlinson was a liability up front.

With Tomlinson gone, this could pave the way for Alijah Vera-Tucker to return to his original position if he wishes to do so next season.
