James Dolan sang the blues, but had nothing to say about Knicks head coach Larry Brown.

Dolan, the Garden chairman, played two sets with his band - JD and the Straight Shot - at the midtown club Coda, but declined to be interviewed or comment on Brown's status.

It's been nearly three weeks since reports surfaced that Dolan was considering buying out Brown's contract and replacing him with Knicks president Isiah Thomas.

Dolan was making his first public appearance since the news of Brown's uncertain future emerged.

Dressed in jeans, a short-sleeve shirt and wearing a fedora, Dolan played lead guitar and sang to a nearly packed house, which paid a $15 cover charge to get in.

Neither Brown nor Thomas was in attendance, but the club was filled with many Madison Square Garden and Cablevision executives and employees.

By the end of the first set, the crowd began to thin out.

During the second set, Dolan cracked that a lot of the songs had a common theme: Dysfunctional relationships. He then sang a song with the lyrics, "there's something wrong in my head."

It is unclear as to when Dolan will have his much-anticipated meeting with Brown. Garden officials last night said that no meeting had been scheduled. Brown is due to earn $40 million over the next four years. His is scheduled to be back at the Knicks' training facility today to run workouts for draft prospects.
