FLUSHING, NEW YORK (TICKER) —The New York Mets on Friday signed infielder Reese Havens, the second of their two first-round picks in the June 5 First-Year Player Draft.

Havens, 21, from the University of South Carolina, was taken with the 22nd overall pick in the draft.

A shortstop during his collegiate career, Havens likely will move to second or third base in the Mets system and also could see time at catcher.

He hit .359 with 76 runs scored, 13 doubles, 18 home runs and 57 RBI in 63 games during his junior campaign with the Game****s this season and was named a third-team All-American.

New York also announced the signing of supplemental pick Brad Holt, who finished his junior season at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington with an 11-1 record and 3.18 ERA in 15 starts.

The Mets grabbed Holt with the 33rd overall pick they received as compensation for losing free-agent Tom Glavine to the Atlanta Braves over the winter. The third-team All-American is the highest-drafted player in North Carolina-Wilmington history.

New York has yet to agree to a deal with the No. 18 overall pick, Arizona State first baseman Ike Davis.
