Anheuser-Busch signs as sponsor of $1.7B New Jersey football stadium

St. Louis Business Journal - by Matt Allen

Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. is paying nearly $8 million per year to sponsor a corner of the new $1.7 billion stadium in New Jersey that will be the future home to the National Football League's New York Giants and New York Jets, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

The article said the new stadium, scheduled to open in 2010, will feature only five sponsorship packages, one for each corner of the stadium and the naming rights, which has not yet been sold.

An A-B spokeswoman could not immediately comment on the report.

Mark Lamping, former president of the St. Louis Cardinals, is the chief executive of New Meadowlands Stadium Co., the parent organization overseeing the construction and operation of the venue.

St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. (NYSE: BUD), through its Anheuser-Busch Inc. subsidiary, is the leading domestic brewer, holding a 48.5 percent share of U.S. beer sales. The company also manufactures and recycles aluminum cans and operates theme parks.
