ESPNNewYork.com is providing a daily breakdown on how the lockout is affecting the individual position groups.

Position: Linebacker.

Depth chart: David Harris, Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, Bryan Thomas, Jamaal Westerman, Josh Mauga, Lance Laury, Brashton Satele, Garrett McIntyre, Joey LaRocque, Cody Brown, Brandon Long, Brian Toal.

Not under contract: Laury.

Player hurt most by lockout: All non-starters, namely Westerman.

Player with most to gain: N/A

Analysis: This is the most veteran-heavy position on the team, at least among the major contributors, so you have to figure they won't be too affected by the lockout. They might not be in game shape, but the top four could step in almost immediately and play a game from a mental standpoint.

Unless they re-sign Jason Taylor (not likely) or add an outside linebacker in free agency (Matt Roth?), the Jets will be counting on Westerman for the OLB rotation. The former Rutgers standout could've made his case for the job in OTAs and minicamp, but now the team doesn't have anything new to go on. For depth purposes, the Jets need to develop some of their younger players, like Mauga and Satele, but the work stoppage is hindering their development.
