Day 5 preview

Top storylines for Saturday:

• Perhaps there will be some clarity in the right-cornerback position. Spurned by Nnamdi Asomugha, the Jets could re-sign Antonio Cromartie or make a play for another free agent (Nate Clements?) or try to swing a trade (Asante Samuel?). GM Mike Tannenbaum likes to respond to negatives with big, splashy moves.

• WR Braylon Edwards is drawing interest in the open market; he has been linked to teams such as the Vikings, Rams and Dolphins. A decision could be close. Like Cromartie, he's probably the best available player at his position. The Jets, meanwhile, are showing interest in James Jones (Packers).

• The Jets still have three draft picks to sign -- DE Muhammad Wilkerson (first round), NT Kenrick Ellis (third round) and WR Jeremy Kerley (fifth round). Look for Ellis and Kerley to get done, possibly as early as Saturday. Wilkerson could be Sunday or Monday.

• S Eric Smith is mulling an offer from the Jets and other teams. It appears the Jets may have prioritized him over Brodney Pool, also a free agent.

The NYJETS still have many glaring needs as Tanne and Rex sit and dwell over losing Aso.

Legit back up QB.

A pass rusher.

A starting CB. (Ironically Cromartie is still available)

A WR who can compliment Holmes. (Ironically Braylon Edwards is still available)

DB depth and special teams players.

LB depth and special teams players.

TE who can block and go over the middle. (Boss and Heap available)
