Pete Likens, communications director of the Kansas City Brigade, told the Kansas City Star that the players union has agreed to the decision to suspend the season, and that team owners were to vote on the matter, likely Wednesday. "It's pretty much a done deal to suspend the 2009 season," Likens is quoted as saying in the newspaper. "We plan to start up again in 2010, if the owners vote this way." The league had 16 teams in 2008, including the Grand Rapids Rampage. The Rampage finished the regular season 6-10 but advanced to the American Conference championship, where they lost to the San Jose SaberCats.
