JetNation
The New York Jets have signed LB Matthias Berning to a reserve/future contract. The announcement was made by General Manager Mike Tannenbaum. Berning (LB/6-0/236/Central Michigan/Duisburg, Germany) originally joined the Jets as an undrafted free agent (07/28/11), spending training camp with the club before being waived (09/03/11). He had two stints on the Jets practice squad in 2011. Berning played in 53 games with 35 starts at Central Michigan, earning All-Mac first-team recognition. View the full article
JerryK
Those years at Central were record years, but I think it was mostly due to their QB & offense. Since the Jets are allergic to the words '1st down', he won't be kept as fresh as the Chippewas kept him. Therefore I'm not as confident his stats from Michigan will bear out in NY.
