pfilippone
Looking at this chart: http://www.jetnation.com/2013/05/31/2013-roster-preview-part-2-linebackers/ I see Troy Davis, Sean Progar-Jackson are listed as Rookies, JoJo Dickson listed as 1 Yr experience. Quinton Coples, Danny Lansanah listed as 2 Yrs experience. What's the difference between Rookie and 1 Yr Experience? Are they the same thing? bitonti
it's a good question with a complicated answer. Long story short, the years played stat is directly related to how much on the field experience the player has logged, in real games (not preseason). It's possible to be on practice squads for several seasons and still be considered a first year player. These years translate into ERFA, RFA and UFA designations. Broncos lineman Chris Clark is a restricted free agent despite 60 games experience. these years are also used for veteran minimum designations.
