Quarterback: Kirk Cousins, Redskins (-6.8)

This might come as a surprise to many, but after a really tough outing yesterday, this is Cousins’ first appearance on the WTOTW. Cousins completed just 58.1 percent of his passes, with the number dropping to 40 percent when he was under any kind of pressure. On passes that traveled more than 10 yards in the air, he was a dreadful 3-for-12 for 46 yards and an interception. His 4.6 yards per attempt was the lowest mark among all QBs this week.

Center: Josh LeRibeus, Redskins (-5.1)

C Kory Lichtensteiger is out with an injury, and wouldn’t you know it, his backup replaces him on this team. LeRibeus surrendered a QB hit and three hurries, and was beaten time and time again on run plays. He also had a false start penalty. The Redskins are having a tough time this season when it comes to the center position.

Linebackers: Donald Butler, Chargers (-3.8) and Perry Riley, Redskins (-3.3)

Butler made only expected or negative plays yesterday, failing to grade positively on anything. He allowed five catches on six targets for 94 yards and multiple first downs in the coverage game. Against the run, he was blocked out of most plays and managed to record only one defensive stop. Riley also made just one stop in his game, and was picked-on in coverage. He surrendered four receptions on four targets for 50 yards, with 43 of them coming after the catch.

Kicker: Nick Folk, Jets

Folk missed a 49-yard field goal, but he makes the team this week mostly due to forcing only two touchbacks on seven kickoffs.

Running back: Chris Ivory, Jets (+2.5)

Another big day from Ivory, who is relishing life under Todd Bowles. He forced another three missed tackles on his way to 146 yards on the ground.

Safeties: Earl Thomas, Seahawks (+4.6) and Marcus Gilchrist, Jets (+4.0)

Our safety combo combined for two interceptions and three pass breakups to make this team. Thomas, in particular, was fantastic, giving a glimpse into why he is regarded so highly.

New York Jets

– Ryan Fitzpatrick (0.0) was able to produce a solid effort. The QB’s average of just 2.24 seconds per attempt was efficient in keeping the chains moving, which was helped when he was able to convert a first down by scrambling and then producing a nice touchdown run on another scramble. Considering how beat-up the Washington cornerbacks have been, and having the second and third-worst graded safeties this season, it was a surprise to see the Jets not attempt a single pass over 20 yards and only seven passes over 10 yards.

– First round pick Leonard Williams (+3.9) has adapted well to the NFL in his rookie campaign. Against Washington, Williams was able to record five total pressures with three QB hits and two hurries. While Williams was unable to produce any tackles or box score noteworthy stats, he caused Washington issues all game long, as he used his strength and leverage to help hold the run game to just 2 yards per carry.

– The past two weeks, Chris Ivory (RB +2.5) has been on fine form, running for a combined 306 yards. Out of Ivory’s 146 yards this week, only seven of those came on the left side of the line; this was due to 104 yards coming off of three runs. While Ivory only broke three tackles this week, he was able to make something out of nothing quite a few times, as the Washington defense was able to get into the backfield on numerous occasions.

Washington

– With Washington unable to get any rushing attack going, the game was put on the shoulders of Kirk Cousins (-6.8). Cousins struggled all game to throw the ball over 10 yards, going 3-for-12 for 46 yards and an interception, finishing with a -3.0 grade on those passes.

– First-round pick Brandon Scherff (-3.5) struggled against the strong defensive line of the Jets. In particular, Scherff struggled in pass protection, giving up seven total pressures, often finding himself on skates, especially against Sheldon Richardson (+1.6, +3.8 pass rush), who managed to consistently get under Scherff’s pads to drive him back into Cousins (-6.8)

– Second-year CB Bashaud Breeland (+2.8) had an interesting game. While Breeland gave up two touchdowns and 58 yards, he had two very good plays. In the second quarter, Breeland managed to rip the ball from WR Brandon Marshall’s hands before he went to ground, and then off of a tipped pass (where he was in perfect coverage), he was able to dive for the ball to intercept Fitzpatrick.
