MaxAF Posted November 29, 2016 Share Posted November 29, 2016 I think both of the non starting QBs will need time to evaluate. Most project QB's will need a full season of starting play to develop. I think most recently of Mariota and Bortles. Bortles still developing. Mariota just starting to show signs of greatness this season To throw Petty out there for 3 or 4 games and say he is or is not the guy is not a fair assessment of his place in the NFL. Can a coach assess this in practice? Unknown. Maybe the reason Fitz is still in there is because of Gailey's past relationship with him. Maybe it's because the inmates are running the asylum and the offense will not respond with him out there. (I found it interesting that Marshall was almost non-existant when Petty was QB and looked like he was really trying to light it up with Fitz last week.) Maybe Bowles just feels he needs more wins in his W column and Fitz gives the Jets the best chance to win. Who the heck knows at this point?
