JetNation Posted November 12, 2017 Share Posted November 12, 2017 As we discussed here in our preview a couple of days ago, there are several key match-ups to keep an eye on when the Jets and Bucs kick off at 1pm in Tampa. Here are some additional notes on the two teams as game time approaches. The Jets catch a break with Mike Evans being suspended, but the Bucs still have plenty of weapons on offense. Wide receiver DeSean Jackson is always a threat, while tight ends OJ Howard and Cameron Brate have combined for 7 touchdowns. Running back Doug Martin hasn’t been featured as a receiver much this season, but could that change against the likes of Darron Lee who has struggled in coverage? On Special teams, the Jets could use a boost at punt returner where they’ve been largely ineffective for years. Recently promoted JoJo Natson had five punt returns for touchdowns in college. Interesting to see if the 5′ 7” youngster can provide a spark. Matt Miller (@nfldraftscout) had some high praise for Jets rookie safeties Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye this week. The duo will be worth watching against the aforementioned duo of OJ Howard and Cameron Brate. Too many of us are overlooking dominant play from @TheAdams_era and @alldayMAYE this year. Starting OG JR Sweezy and both starting offensive tackles (Demar Dotson and Donovan Smith) are listed questionable. If the Bucs are down a starter or two in the trenches, it could be a long day for them on offense. With the D-line stepping up, maybe some blitzes off the edge can help the Jets get to Ryan Fitzpatrick. Josh Martin, anyone? With Matt Forte out, it’s a chance for Elijah McGuire to see some significant reps. He’s shown the ability to do a lot of different things in a short time with the Jets. If the blocking is there, he’ll make things happen. Can’t help but wonder what would be worse if the Jets were to lose this game. Big game from Fitz, or game-changing play from William Gholston, cousin of former mega-bust Vernon Gholston. Only a few hours before kickoff Jets fans. Here’s to .500!
