The Red Sox outfield reportedly is about to get less crowded.

Boston has agreed to send center fielder Coco Crisp to the Royals in exchange for right-handed reliever Ramon Ramirez, ESPN Radio 810 in Kansas City reported Wednesday.

Crisp batted .283 with seven home runs and 41 RBIs and 20 stolen bases last season in Boston, where he split time in center field with Jacoby Ellsbury.

Ramirez had a solid season out of the bullpen for the Royals in 2008, appearing in 71 games with a 2.64 ERA in 71 1/3 innings. He was 3-2 with one save.
