I noticed traffic was much busier than usual while taking the bus back from the gym this afternoon. Wrote it off as after-school congestion. Then the helicopters tipped me off. At Sip & Summitt Aves near Journal Square a guy tried to hold up a jewelry store. He's supposedly still inside holding hostages with a hand grenade. There are conflicting reports that he may have shot 1 person or killed 2. Another version has him holed up at the DMV State Building with a bomb strapped to him. Stay tuned to the 5PM News.
