The Patriots played scared today. Was great to see.

The Patriots, with two time outs and nearly two minutes on the clock before halftime, turned turtle and didn't attempt to drive down the field.  It was the behavior of a team that didn't believe it had the better squad on the field.  Scared of making a mistake.

It happened again in overtime.  Belichick lacked the confidence that his team would march 80 yards against the Jets D, and instead chose to risk getting a defensive stop and only having to march 40 or 50 yards before his golden-leg kicker would win the game for him.

I watched the game with a bunch of Patriots fans.  They were entirely confused by both choices.  They're not used to it.

Belichick did coach scared today, no doubt about it.  He knew his offense was overmatched against the Jets D and liked the Jets O/Pats* D matchup better.

However if these teams meet again it'll be in Foxboro with Edelman, Amendola, McCourty, and Chung playing.  Belichick won't be coaching scared then.
