Besides that, he's done well and Jerricho, when we used to face him, was a physical guy. He's a tough, physical guy and he gives you a presence in running games that I really like."

Jets | Newhouse making an impression

Thu, 3 Aug 2006 14:27:24 -0700

<A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl">New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini feels that WR Reggie Newhouse is doing a solid job so far in training camp. "It started when we first got him. He made a couple of difficult catches where you open your eyes and say, "Okay, we need to spend a little more time looking at this." That's carried over and it has shown up on tape. It's positive. The challenge for him, and really for that group, is to learn exactly where they line up, where they fit, where they break the routes, what the adjustments are and there are a lot of adjustments. A lot of time will be spent understanding those that he can keep making the catches he has made."

Jets | Ramsey having control problems

Thu, 3 Aug 2006 14:27:04 -0700

<A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl">New York Jets QB Patrick Ramsey had some "glitches" with his control during practice Thursday, Aug. 3, according to Jets head coach Eric Mangini. "The reason that we are trying to simulate this right now is to get the mechanics because those mechanics aren't just something that you can roll and do," said Mangini. "It's very specific and the awareness of where you are, what you're trying to do, the amount of time you have to make a decision and the options you have in terms of personnel are all narrow. There are always going to be glitches and what we're trying to do is iron those out. I thought he did a pretty good job with the first situation today. We're going to look at all those glitches and there were plenty of them that we are going to evaluate."

"Each night, I have a report on every, single player on the team, how many reps they got, and every single drill," Mangini said. "We monitor that and the way we may get them the rest may change. It may be an every-other-play situation. We approach it differently to look at different combinations, but overall tracking the total."
