It's about time

David Robertson entered the year as the Yankees 24th rated prospect (Baseball America). Selected in the 17th round of the 2006 MLB Draft, he made a huge impression last season making stops at Charleston, Tampa, and Trenton.

He has three above-average pitches.

David Robertson's Repetoire:

Cutter: 90-92 mph with natural cut action.

Curveball: Plus pitch. Has bite, angle and depth. Can throw for strikes or bury.

Slider: Plus pitch. Good bite, late action. Keeps down in the zone.

According to BA's 2008 prospect handbook, Robertson should challenge for a big league role in 2008. "Despite his small frame [5-foot-11, 180], he makes his mistakes down in the zone and has yet to give up a homer in pro ball [still true] ... His size seems to be the only reason scouts don't project him as a future cloaser.
