The Gun Of Bavaria
Hmmmm I can't imagine why Cabrera and the Tigers aren't hitting the ball and have their heads up their asses. Birmingham borders my city to the North. Nice city, lots of $ and a professional police department. Haven't heard any scuttlebutt as to what has happened, but given the scratches on Cabrera's face the other night, I'm happy to see that at least someone in that household can hit their target this month. Miguel Cabrera's Blood Alcohol Content, 0.260,was higher than the Detroit Tigers team batting average for the entire month of September. FAIL Let me tell you something. I've been a cop for over 8 1/2 years now. For someone the size of Miggy to get to a .26 requites an inordinate amount of alcohol. http://www.detnews.com/article/20091005/SPORTS0104/910050376/Police-pick-up--release-Cabrera-after-911-call-from-home Police pick up, release Cabrera after 911 call from home Mike Martindale / The Detroit News Birmingham -- Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera was taken in for questioning early Saturday morning based on a 911 call made from his home by his wife, Birmingham Police Chief Richard Patterson said Monday. Cabrera allegedly upset his wife by coming home intoxicated at 6 a.m. and waking his children while talking on a cell phone. Patterson said the pair struggled over the cell phone with each receiving minor injuries. Both refused medical attention. Cabrera was asked to leave the house by his wife, Rosangel. He was taken to the Birmingham police station because he was "very uncooperative, incoherent, and there was a language barrier," according to Patterson. A Spanish interpreter was obtained from the Michigan State Police, because investigators were attempting to determine who was the aggressor in the struggle. Neither party wished to press criminal charges. Cabrera has not been cited in the incident and was released to the care of Tigers officials. Police administered a breath test and Cabrera registered .26. A reading of .08 is considered intoxicated for motorists. A neighbor reported she saw about three police cruisers in front of the Cabreras' home early Saturday morning and said officers put a man in the back of one of the cruisers. Cabrera declined to comment on the scratches before Saturday's game, which the Tigers lost 5-1. Had the Tigers won Saturday and Sunday, they would have won the American League Central Division title and averted Tuesday's 5:07 p.m. one-game playoff at Minnesota for the right to play the Yankees in the AL playoffs. He had a dismal performance in Saturday's game, going 0-4, including striking out once and leaving six runners on base. Cabrera again declined to comment about the marks on his face after Sunday's game, which the Tigers won 5-3 to force a one-game playoff in Minnesota for the division championship Tuesday. Cabrera was 0-3 on Sunday. He's been by far the team's most prolific slugger this season, with 33 home runs, a .323 batting average and 101 runs batted in. Among full-time players, he leads the team in all three categories. Nobody answered the door at the Cabrera home late Sunday afternoon. It was not the only domestic disturbance run by city police Saturday. Less than three hours earlier, about 3:30 a.m., police responded to a domestic assault incident at the Townsend Hotel in downtown Birmingham. It was not clear Sunday if the two incidents were related. http://www.freep.com/article/20091005/SPORTS02/91005019/1319/Police--Cabrera-was-drunk-during-fight-with-wife Police: Cabrera was drunk during fight with wife First baseman had .26 blood alcohol level BY TAMMY STABLES BATTAGLIA AND MICHAEL ROSENBERG FREE PRESS STAFF WRITERS Miguel Cabrera had a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit when he was involved in a physical altercation with his wife early Saturday morning, according to the Birmingham Police. Cabrera had been partying with buddies from the Chicago White Sox after Friday night's game at Birmingham's Townsend Hotel, Birmingham Police Chief Richard Patterson said. But when he got home, his wife wasn't happy he'd been out drinking so late, Patterson said. Roseangel Cabrera called 911 at 6:05 a.m. to report the two were fighting, according to reports. "He was out late, came home and his spouse didn't appreciate that, I guess and it got into an argument," Patterson said. Police took Cabrera to the police station for questioning, including help from a Michigan State Police interpreter. According to the police report, Cabrera's wife, whose name is listed as Rosangel, was upset when the ballplayer woke up the couple's 4-year-old daughter and was talking on the phone when he came home. Investigators noticed his wife had an injury to her lower lip; they noted the injury to the left side of Cabrera's face. Police found a damaged cell phone, and the gold chain Cabrera wears around his neck was broken, too. But when officers asked the couple what happened, neither would explain how they were injured, according to the report. Cabrera's wife insisted he leave, and he agreed, so officers took him to the police department to be picked up by the Tigers. After investigators determined both Cabrera and his wife were "aggressors" in the situation, Patterson said, the first baseman was released. Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski picked Cabrera up at the station between 7:30 and 8 a.m. Saturday, he added. Cabrera registered a .26 blood-alcohol level when tested by police, Commander Mark Clemence said. A person is considered drunk at .08. "We were just making sure we're in the right range to turn him over to an official from the Tigers and he wasn't in any medical danger," Clemence said today, adding that those who test at a .35 blood-alcohol level are taken to a local hospital.
