In a move that many Jets fans have been calling for since last season, Gang Green has waived injured tight end Kellen Davis in order to make room for cornerback Dexter McDougle.

With CB Marcus Williams expected to miss several weeks with a high ankle sprain, the team was in need of additional depth at the position and Davis was the odd man out.  Completely invisible in the passing game, logging just 3 receptions for 18 yards in a year and a half with the team (694 snaps), Davis had to go.

In recent weeks, fellow tight end Brandon Bostick, a younger, more athletic player, has out-performed Davis as a run blocker and has far more upside than.  The team also added blocking tight end Eric Tomlinson from the Houston Texans practice squad but he has yet to play a snap for New York.

Cornerback Dexter McDougle is back on Gang Green's 53-man roster.

McDougle, a three-year veteran who was one of John Idzik’s 12 draft picks just a few seasons ago, has spent a large portion of his pro career either injured, or on the practice squad.  McDougle has appeared in just 14 games over three seasons and has been credited with just 1 pass defended and 3 tackles according to pro-football reference.

The former Maryland product hopes to get the opportunity to crush it for Gang Green in what will likely be limited reps in the early going with an eye on earning increased snaps down the line.
