germanjet
Who the f### is JACK Barton, MIKE Vilma...... NO just kidding. Saw the Depth Chart and do not know the other words for the linebacker spots. I knew LB, MLB, SLB... but what does JACK, MIKE and SAM mean? Hope you guys can end my ignorance. aec4
While I can't explain Jack, Mike just comes from the M in the Middle Linebacker spot, and the same with Sam and the strong side backer I believe.
BlackLabelJetsFan
As AEC4 said, Mike is the Middle LB, Sam is the Strongside LB, and Will is the Weakside LB. Those are the standard 4-3 LBer spots. When they shift to a 3-4, the DE (Abraham normally) shifts to LB, and Jack, I believe, is Donnie Henderson's terminology for the spot that Barton plays. I believe they list Abrahams DE spot as the Will as well.
