faba
Posted on Wed, Dec. 28, 2005 Turf-toe injury forces Jordan out for finaleRunning back will miss another game after surpassing 1,000 yardsRaiders notebook ALAMEDA -- Running back LaMont Jordan's turf-toe injury on his right foot has improved but not enough for him to play in the Raiders' regular-season finale Saturday night against the New York Giants, he said Tuesday. "I've got some movement, a lot more movement in my foot," Jordan said. "I definitely don't think I'll be going this week." Jordan sustained his injury on the third play of Oakland's game against the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 18. He played through the pain and wound up with a career-high 132 yards rushing. In the process, he surpassed 1,000 yards for the season for the first time in his five-year NFL career. "I kept telling myself it was something that wouldn't hold Curtis (Martin) out," Jordan said of his injury. "The fact the ground was so soft, I could run on the side of my foot." The Raiders signed Jordan in the offseason in hopes of landing the kind of running back who could carry a sizable load. The gamble paid off. Jordan rushed 272 times (for 1,025 yards) and caught a team-high 70 passes (for 563 yards) in 14 games. Still, Jordan said he's disappointed he missed last Saturday's game and won't play against the Giants. "The big thing was, for me to play 16 games and show I could handle the load as a starter," said Jordan, who backed up Martin for four seasons with the New York Jets. "A lot of people questioned my ability to handle the load as a starter, and when you miss the last two games of the season that kind of gives them more ammo to use in the offseason." Coach Norv Turner said Jordan has done an admirable job considering he hadn't started an NFL game before this season. "It's not even about 14 or 16 games," Turner said, "it's about being the full-time guy for an entire game. You learn the first time you do it. He hadn't done it since college." Bye bye, Bonner The Atlanta Falcons signed wide receiver Cedric Bonner from Oakland's practice squad. Teams are permitted to raid another team's practice squad as long as they sign the player to their 53-man roster. Bonner, 27, was on Oakland's practice squad all season. The Raiders signed defensive end Kevin Huntley to take Bonner's place on their practice squad. Huntley went undrafted in the NFL draft last April. Tickets remain Saturday's game is slated for broadcast on ESPN provided the necessary tickets are sold by 5 p.m. today. Plenty of tickets remain for sale. There is a possibility that the league would grant the Raiders a 24-hour extension to compensate for Another reason why California should never get another franchise- apathy
4HCrew
I would be curious to see his output with a real coach that forces him to work out. Tons of potential but lazy and out of shape
