Might want to start thinking about Josh Mccown

Flacco isn't in the Brady/Rodgers/Manning/Brees stratosphere, but I think there is noticeable separation between Flacco and Sanchez.  You may not agree.

The players they've surrounded him with were good but nothing spectacular (Boldin, Torrey, Pitta).  None of them are elite targets.  But Flacco was good at not throwing the ball to the other team (10 interceptions in 20 games).  He got super-hot at just the right time, playing better than he ever did before.  Enough to overcome far worse point-surrendering collapses than the Jets D and specials did in their two SB runs.  I give Flacco credit for playing way better than he generally is.  Sometimes guys get hot in weeks 5-8.  He got hot in the playoffs.  Had he not, they never would have gotten past Denver and the following week would have been a Manning-Brady showdown instead.  That long pass to Jones(?) to put that game away never would have happened with most QBs because they don't have the arm to get it there.  Even Flacco, with that cannon of his, didn't really hit him in stride.

Of course there's a noticeable difference between Sanchez and Flacco- I understand that. there's also(was) a noticeable difference between Ozzie and Tanny and Harbaugh and Rex.

Boldin isnt elite but he'd be the best WR this team has had since Rex has been here. Pitta's a beast  btw...

Your arguing with a delusional agenda driven fan. It's pointless.

His Sanchez hatred and his bed sharing with Rex make getting through to him like getting through a brick wall.

Flacco was Montana like in the Playoffs last year.   The year before that he was the best QB in that playoff as well.   He's kind of been that QB for years. He isn't a HOF great QB during the regular season, but come playoffs, the guy is almost Montana like for some reason.    You could say Manning is the exact opposite. He isn't all that good come playoff time most years.

But Flacco has been an ok QB.  This year is probably his worse, but he's normally a 20 TD and 10 INT kind of QB who completes around 60 percent of his passes. And this is what, his 6th year in the NFL and he's made the playoffs 5 years in a row, 3 AFC Championships, 1 super bowl MVP, and so on.   The difference between Harbaugh, Ozzie, & Flacco has been they built a team and replaced players whereas the Jets continued to get worse and went from surprise playoff winner to a team who should feel proud if they were to finish with 7 wins this year.

No doubt.  The next Aaron Rodgers (however welcome) isn't required.  Better QBs than we've had is required, though.

It also wouldn't hurt if we didn't have so few star players (to say nothing of the outright busts) with our early (~top-60-ish) picks the past several years (Gholston, Keller, Sanchez, Greene, Wilson, Ducasse, Hill, and so far the poor rookie seasons from Milliner, Geno, and Winters).  We did hit on a few 1st round defensive linemen, though Coples has been more solid than studly like the other 2.

So sure, it goes beyond just the QB position.  But in that list there were 2 QBs and neither has shown to be a good pick yet.  Getting good value for the picks on Matt Slauson and Jeremy Kerley and Demario Davis are & were welcome, but they're not nearly enough to offset triple that number of mediocrity & outright blunders.

Compound that with the gutting of too-expensive players (Revis, Scott, Landry most notably) and the varied regression of high-priced players that are still here (Cromartie, Harris, Holmes, Ferguson, and Mangold), and you see what we're fielding today.

Frankly it should have taken more than a 2 lucky breaks to have this team at 6-7.  We've got a stud defensive line and a good, young inside linebacker, and a talented but injury-prone RB.  Even though he's not playing at his prior elite level, Mangold is probably still performing above-average, though I haven't been rating the league's centers on a daily basis.  Still, that isn't nearly enough to get us to a superbowl.  The team has MANY holes to fill.  I just think QB is the biggest one.  Whatever Geno may or may not be, to be a contender right now in 2013 we clearly have a gaping hole at starting QB.

This is an amazing coincidence, to be sure.

After Trestman spent an entire offseason pouring his blood, sweat and tears into developing the great Josh McCown, he's decided to go back to Jay Cutler:

Well, I hear he told Jay Cutler to stop with the turnovers, so he's done his QB coaching work for the year.
