The reception "rule"

Is the dumbest thing ever. For god knows what reason, the loser competition committee thinks this nonsense of completing the "process" of the catch as the receiver goes to the game is just a horrible rule. There were at least 2 CLEAR catches including a touchdown by Atlanta where the receiver reaches for and actually breaks the plane that were reversed. It is just incredibly bad.

Same thing happened to Eifert last week (or was it the week before?) and it was just as dumb then. Caught it, turned and took 2 steps, and broke the plane. THEN the ball popped out (I forget it it was knocked out or if it was when he hit the ground but it wouldn't matter). Said he didn't finish the play or something.

The way the rule always was (or always seemed like it was) the play is over the millisecond the ball touches the plane (as long as he had possession at that point). Now he has to maintain possession until he falls down with it?

Wasn't even anything that affected the Jets, so ordinarily I wouldn't care, but this is ridiculous. Do not like.
