nyjbuddy
Overall approach: Kept in fairly young, tried to be conservative with salaries, reasonable/realistic signings/draft Offense 1. Fix the O-line 2. Find playmakers for Darnold Defense 1. Fill the gaps on defense with the switch to the 43 and there are a lot of them. (Especially thin at linebacker and defensive end.) 2. Target versatile, athletic players to play in multiple fronts Expected Cap Room $102M Set aside for drafted players - $9M Reserve for late and in-season signings - $10M $83M - to spend in free agency Robby Anderson (25) - RFA - 2nd tender - 1 year / $3M Jason Myers (27) - 4 year(s) / $16M Morris Claiborne (28) - 1 year(s) / $7M Brandon Copeland (27) - 2 year(s) / $7M Andre Roberts (31) - 2 year(s) / $8M Deontay Burnett (21) - 2 year(s) / $8M Davis Webb (24) - 3 year(s) / $9M Eric Smtih (23) - 3 year(s) / $2.4M - Started off in Miami, showed promise but got injured Le'veon Bell (26) - 4 year(s) / $64M - not sure if this would get him signed, maybe a high amount of guaranteed $ would do it Za'Darius Smith (27) - 4 year(s) / $40M - moving back to his college position of defensive end, reasonable price for a DE, but would be top 10 in 34OLB money Preston Smith (26) - 4 year(s) / $40M - another player switching back to his college position of defensive end, and again a reasonable price for a DE, but would be top money if he stayed as a 34OLB Rodger Saffold (30) - 3 year(s) / $21M - A little older than the other signees, but a stop gap for a couple years, has performed well the past couple years and shouldn't break the bank Donovan Smith (25) - 4 year(s) / $40M - This would be similar to the Beachum signing a couple years ago, consistent above average starter that has shown to be great at times Shaq Barrett (26) - 4 year(s) / $32M - Solid player George Iloka (28) - 2 year(s) / $4M - Great backup with starting experience Total Spent: $92.3 Cut Kelvin Beachum - $8M savings Cut Isaiah Crowell - $3M savings Added cap space: $11M The assumption here is that there is no trade back. Would like to see them trade down but we'll see as the draft gets closer. Draft 1st Quinnen Williams DT 3rd(Early) Garrett Bradbury C 3rd(Late) Bobby Evans OT 4th Stanely Morgan Jr WR 5th Sutton Smith OLB 6th Troy Reeder MLB 7th Jerome Washington TE Offense Bell would open up a lot in the offense, giving them an excellent RB that can contribute in the passing game. Moved Enunwa to the X receiver. Though he does well in the slot, I think in Gase's offense he would fit more as the Demaryius(DEN) or DeVante (MIA) role Anderson/Roberts on the opposite side that can stretch the defense in the Stills (MIA) role Burnett/Morgan in the Landry/Amendola (MIA) role Herndon had a great rookie year, hope he continues to develop Defense Preston Smith / Za'Darius Smith - both move back to their college positions of defensive end, more lucrative position than a 34OLB (unless you are Von Miller of Khalil Mack). But this gives Gregg Williams a lot of flexibility and versatility with the front 7. In the 43, the Smiths would bookend the Williams with the ability to get to the QB without having to bring extra pressure. With Gregg Williams' tendency to bring overloaded pressure from one side of the formation, the opposite side defensive end often drops into coverage (i.e. a 34 olb). Switching between a 43 and 34 front with the same personnel would be possible with very little dropoff. Barrett adds a little bit of pass rush from the LB position and has been solid when asked to step in for the Broncos. Hopefully, Johnson can get back the way he played with Gregg Williams as his coach Claiborne is someone that hopefully can hold his own until they can find a replacement Need Maye to stay healthy, but can't wait to see how Gregg Williams will utilize Adams WR TE LT LG C RG RT WR WR Quincey Enunwa Chris Herndon Donovan Smith Roger Saffold Garrett Bradbury Brian Winters Brandon Shell Deontay Burnett Robby Anderson Charone Peak Jordan Leggett Boddy Evans Spencer Long Eric Smith (ERFA) Stanely Morgan Jr Andre Roberts Jerome Washington JJ Jones QB RB Sam Darnold Le'veon Bell Davis Webb (ERFA) Elijah McGuire Trenton Cannon CB LDE DT DT RDE CB Trumaine Johnson Za'Darius Smith Leonard Williams Quinnen Williams Preston Smith Morris Claiborne Parry Nickerson Brandon Copeland Folorunso Fatukasi Mike Pennel Jordan Jenkins Derrick Jones Tarell Basham Nathan Shepherd Rashard Robinson SLB MLB WLB Shaquil Barrett Avery Williamson Darron Lee Kevin Pierre-Louis Sutton Smith Troy Reeder SS FS Jamal Adams Marcus Maye George Iloka Terrence Brooks Brandon Bryant P Lachlan Edwards K Jason Myers LS Thomas Hennessy
