Geez, I didn't even know that Malik Taylor was hurt.

The Jets have signed DT Jaylen Twyman and placed WR Malik Tayor on injured reserve.

Twyman (6-2, 285) most recently played for the UFL's San Antonio Brahmas. He originally was drafted by the Vikings in the sixth round in 2021 out of Pittsburgh. He spent his two first two seasons on Minnesota's roster before joining Miami's practice squad in October 2022. He has not played in a regular-season game.

Taylor (6-1, 220) sustained an injury earlier in training camp after he signed a reserve/future deal in January. He first joined the Green & White in December 2022 and originally signed with the Buccaneers as a UDFA out of Ferris State before he joined the Packers.

I believe shoulder, for a couple of weeks now. Tough for Taylor but he always seems to get dinged up.

Twyman Is a curious signing. He must have had an impressive workout.

The athletic numbers are impressive, but his pro career to date has been a whole lot of nothing.  Very curious signing indeed.

6’2, 285.  Probably looking for a DE for run downs ?

That's exactly what I was thinking, a run-stuffing DE.

On the shorter side, but powerful and stout at the point of attack.

He has potential, he seems to move well, can shed blocks & hold his ground.

He was a very good player at Pitt - had one excellent season with 11 sacks and people were making Aaron Donald comparisons.

But he has done very little as a pro.  On the fringes on the PS of the Vikings then the Phish, and then off to the lower leagues.

He was an innocent victim in a shooting a few years back (shot 4 times) so that may well partially explain why his pro career hasn't gone anywhere so far.

A good athlete with a low base and good strength though, and seems to have some interior pass-rush ability.  He's a longshot -especially joining the team this late in the pre-season - but we'll hope for the best and see what he can do.

Now we know why

DT Leki Fotu (hamstring) is also out for the rest of camp. WR Irv Charles should return soon.
